MT. JULIET, Tenn. — Sept. 15, 2026 — Cookeville golf will be well represented in the next round of the postseason after the Lady Cavaliers captured the District 7-AA championship and the Cavaliers finished district runner-up Tuesday at Pine Creek Golf Course.
The District 7-AA field battled Pine Creek, a par-72 layout spanning approximately 6,676 yards, with a course rating of 71.5 and slope of 124.
The postseason road will now lead right back to Pine Creek for the region tournament, but the stakes will increase significantly. The top three boys and girls teams from the district advance to the region, along with qualifying individuals from schools that did not advance as teams.
At the region, it becomes a team win-or-go-home situation with a berth in the state tournament on the line.
Lebanon Wins Boys Title, Cookeville Takes Second
Lebanon captured the District 7-AA boys championship with a 295, edging Cookeville by four strokes. The Cavaliers finished second at 299, while Stewarts Creek claimed the third and final team qualifying position with a 319.
Cookeville senior Sean Montgomery provided the day’s best individual performance, firing a 3-under-par 69 to earn medalist honors.
Montgomery wasn’t alone near the top of the leaderboard. Teammate Jackson Demps shot a 1-under-par 71 to finish second individually. Levi Johnson added a 79, Mac Ivey an 80 and Kason Watson an 83 for the Cavaliers.
Lebanon’s championship 295 was led by Colin Mitchell’s 72 and Turner Davis’ 73, while Bryson Frederick, Jack Anderson and Connor Kegley each shot 75.
Boys Advancing to Region
The three qualifying teams are Lebanon, Cookeville and Stewarts Creek.
The top five listed medalists were Sean Montgomery, Jackson Demps, Colin Mitchell, Turner Davis and Connor Kegley.
With those players advancing as part of qualifying teams, the individual qualifiers from non-advancing teams are Braden Sherrell, Andrew Robinson, Henry Siemer, Jaden Shumate and Ryder McManus.
That gives the region field a combination of the three advancing teams plus the individual qualifiers whose schools did not make the team cut.
Odom Wins Medalist Honors as Cookeville Girls Take Championship
Cookeville’s girls left Pine Creek with the biggest team prize of the day.
The Lady Cavaliers combined for a 157 to capture the District 7-AA championship. Stewarts Creek finished second at 202, while Wilson Central took third at 205, sending all three teams into the region tournament.
Lila Odom led Cookeville with a tremendous round, firing a 3-over-par 75 to earn individual medalist honors.
Lexie Hudson followed with an 82, giving Cookeville the two counting scores needed for its championship total. Keirstyn Ealey added an 85.
Odom, Hudson and Ealey occupied the first three spots on the girls medalist list, followed by Stewarts Creek’s Olivia Ridley and Wilson Central’s London Lomas.
Girls Advancing to Region
The three qualifying teams are Cookeville, Stewarts Creek and Wilson Central.
The five listed medalists were Lila Odom, Lexie Hudson, Keirstyn Ealey, Olivia Ridley and London Lomas.
The additional individual qualifiers from schools that did not advance as teams are Lolly Monette, Olivia Griffin and Michelle Hatchet.
Back to Pine Creek — With State on the Line
There won’t be a change of scenery for the next round.
The region tournament returns to Pine Creek Golf Course, giving Montgomery, Odom and the rest of the Cookeville golfers an immediate opportunity to attack a course they now know under postseason conditions.
The difference will be the stakes.
Cookeville’s girls enter the region after winning the District 7-AA championship, while the Cavaliers boys advance after finishing just four shots behind Lebanon.
At the region level, it’s win or go home in the team competition. The district trophies and runner-up finishes have secured another round, but the next objective is much bigger — earning a trip to the state tournament.
For Cookeville, both teams will get that opportunity on familiar ground at Pine Creek.
