🚂 Before the SUV. Before the minivan. Before the station wagon… there was the Depot Hack.

This Ford Model T–based Depot Hack takes us back to a time when the automobile was completely changing the way America traveled.

These wooden-bodied vehicles were built to transport passengers and their luggage to and from railroad depots, hotels and resorts—essentially serving as an early version of the hotel shuttle.

Underneath all that beautiful woodwork was the legendary Model T platform, typically powered by Ford’s 177-cubic-inch four-cylinder engine producing around 20 horsepower. Not exactly fast by today’s standards, but it didn’t need to be.

What I love about vehicles like this is that they’re more than old cars. They’re a snapshot of how people actually lived and traveled more than 100 years ago.

And just look at that wood body. They definitely don’t build them like this anymore.

Built by Hand. Built to Last. 🇺🇸🛠️

Long before robots and assembly-line automation took over, much of the early Ford Model T truck was built with skilled hands, simple tools, and an incredible amount of craftsmanship. The wooden stake beds were carefully cut and fitted by craftsmen, while the steel chassis and mechanical components were engineered to withstand the rough roads of early America.

Introduced in the early 1900s, the Model T revolutionized transportation by making vehicles affordable for everyday people. Whether delivering supplies, hauling equipment, or serving local businesses, these trucks became the backbone of countless communities and helped shape the growth of America.

More than 100 years later, it’s easy to see why these classics still capture our attention. Every board, bolt, and curve tells the story of an era when things were built to work—and built to last.

Before modern pickups and delivery trucks, there was the legendary Ford Model T. Introduced in 1908, the Model T put America on wheels, and commercial versions like this became the backbone of farms, small businesses, and local deliveries across the country.
