🚨 BMW N55 BOOST LEAK — FAILED PLASTIC CHARGE PIPE! 🚨
This 2018 BMW X4 M40i (F26) came to Euroenvy Autowerks with several faults related to boost pressure, airflow and fuel mixture:
🔧 120308 — Charging-pressure control plausibility: pressure too low
🔧 108F01 — Intake plenum: suspected leak between turbocharger and intake valves
🔧 102002 — Air-mass plausibility: air mass too low
🔧 102A32 — Hot-film air-mass meter: air mass too low
🔧 118002 — Mixture control: mixture too rich
After just a visual inspection, we found the problem:
💥 The original plastic charge pipe had separated at the molded connection near the throttle body.
The charge pipe carries pressurized air from the intercooler to the throttle body. When it cracks or separates, boost pressure escapes and the engine can experience:
• Drivetrain-malfunction warnings
• Reduced engine power
• Low-boost faults
• Rich or lean mixture faults
• Incorrect air-mass readings
• Hesitation or poor acceleration
• Hissing or rushing-air noises
We replaced the failed plastic pipe with a VRSF upgraded aluminum charge pipe. The aluminum construction eliminates the weak plastic throttle-body connection and provides a much stronger, more durable repair—especially on tuned or higher-boost vehicles.
