IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
As all of you know there have been many challenges with the Heer Park location over the past couple of years. Most recently the City of Columbus has made the decision to close Heer Park in an effort to curb certain activities and make the park safe again for its residents and the community.
In the best interest of the program and knowing that we may not have a location to operate our program, we have been working on other alternatives.
In the next week or so we will be officially announcing our move to Westerville and the change of our program name from COBRA BMX to WESTERVILLE BMX. We could not be more excited about this opportunity and the benefits it brings to growing our program.
The City of Westerville is 100% committed to making our program one of the top programs in the country. This will be a true partnership with both sides being committed to capital improvements, track maintenance and other needs of the program. Westerville will be including a write up in their May Recreational Newsletter promoting the track along with all of their other sports programs (baseball, soccer, etc.).
USA BMX has been heavily involved with assisting us through this process and will be donating their resources to complete the rebuild of the current Alum Creek South BMX Track in Westerville with an all new design.
While it is the end of a long history at Heer Park, it also begins a new opportunity to build upon that history and make our program even better for everyone involved.
If you are interested in helping out for the 2021 season in anyway (on or off the track) please let us know.
We hope to see all of you at our Grand Opening which is tentatively scheduled for mid to late June depending on weather.
Lastly, we would like to send a big thank you to the City of Columbus for all that they have done for us over the last 30+ years and aslo thier efforts in helping us find a way to continue our program. We would not be where we are without you.
