Selling off , too old and have to get on with life . Personal issues have become overwhelming . I've done my time beginning professionally from 1975 . I started as a hobby for the fun of it at A local race shop in 1963 . time to get back to basic " for the fun of auto's". I still like Cars but the business side is not so much fun : / More to come , but time is short . I'll post more later , Dave

The time has come to say goodbye to the Sonnet! In the time between the everyday workload of cars, we've been lucky enough to work on bringing this classic back to life and back on the road. Couldn't be more excited for the owner. Anyone that's worked on a rare classic like this knows that these kinds of projects tend to take lots of unexpected twists and turns. The last curveball she threw at us came when the transporter came to pick her up for the trek home to Maryland. The wheelbase was too short and skinny for the truck they brought! So she'll spend one more night here in the garage and she'll be off tomorrow. It's been fun.

SONETT UPDATE: Dropped the engine and transmission back in and tested the gears. Success! Got reverse function back. Engine fired right up. Runs like a absolute champ. Pretty amazing for a 42 year old car thats been sitting. Of course with these old cars, once you fix one problem another decides to rear its ugly head. The clutch decided to do just that. Continuing the story of the Sonett's resurrection! Today's issue was this: The car wouldn't shift into reverse. Dave knew there was a bolt in the back of the transmission that was too long and penetrating too deep into the transmission that was interfering with the reverse functions. Today we pulled the engine and transmission to replace and correct that bolt. We'll let you know what we find!

Every once in a while we get to work on a car that means a bit more to us. You're looking at a 1974 SAAB Sonett. Dave has been servicing this vehicle since it was almost new (and green!) back when he worked at the SAAB dealership. When Dave went independent and opened the original SAAB Shop in 1992, Jim Jenson, the owner of the Sonett, followed him with his business as so many others did. Sadly, Jim has since passed away and left the Sonett with his son. It's now on us to get this little firecracker back out on the road again. It's a stubborn one, but we'll keep you updated as we make progress on it.
