Insurance companies are writing aftermarket parts for vehicles one model year old. So if your vehicle was built in December of 25 and it was in an accident in January of 26, it could be repaired with aftermarket parts. To combat this, check what an OEM rider would cost to add to your policy.

The insurance company will tell you we’re holding your vehicle “hostage” but in reality it’s your safety that’s our priority. I would never put someone else’s family in a vehicle that I wouldn’t put my own in. A few years ago I held onto a Honda for over six months because the seatbelt wasn’t available. The insurance company insisted we send it out and have it rebuilt, but I refused every time.  We also will not install used safety components. This is the reason why.
