Earth Day at Camaco in Columbus, NE

Earlier this year, we took on something that had been sitting for decades—60 years of accumulated equipment in our boneyard. We recycled over 685,000 pounds of steel—more than 1.5 times the weight of the Statue of Liberty.🗽

Now we shift from cleanup to restoration, partnering with Keep Columbus Beautiful, led by Vanessa Oceguera, a chapter of Keep America Beautiful® to plant grass and look to the future where junk once stood.

At the intersection of my role as Global EHS Leader at Camaco and President of the NEBRASKA TRAILS FOUNDATION INC, this is what progress looks like—restoring space for a better future. The City of Columbus, Nebraska Master Trail Plan envisions a trail along this canal corridor, one that would connect into the Great American Rail-Trail, a already 55% complete coast-to-coast route across the U.S and 52% complete across Nebraska.

From reclaiming 60 years of space to blazing trails (literally) for our future.

Exciting day at Camaco-Amvian as we celebrate Apprenticeship Signing Day!

Congratulations to Alvaro Lopez and Dereck Moran Carciumaru on continuing their journey in advanced manufacturing through our Mechatronics Apprenticeship Program.

Both Alvaro and Dereck first began their apprenticeships through an early agreement with Columbus Public Schools District at just 17 years old, in partnership with Central Community College. Now, after graduating high school and beginning their college coursework, they have officially signed again—this time stepping into their formal college-level apprenticeship.

This is exactly what strong workforce development looks like: early exposure, continued education, and real career pathways.
