The 1961 Farmobil (a multi-purpose vehicle, mainly for agricultural use) has been called an early product of globalization, as it involved a number of countries and companies, and, perhaps, attempted to become a "world vehicle".
It was developed by German farm equipment manufacturer FAHR A.G. in collaboration with BMW which provided all the mechanicals. As FAHR faced difficulties with its production, it sold the production license to FARCO, a Greek company (forerunner of NAMCO). The vehicle was produced in Thessaloniki since 1961, and virtually all units produced were exported (with various brands).
In 1963, Chrysler acquired the Greek company, and exported the vehicle through its own network. The American company terminated the project in 1966, while a company was formed in Switzerland, owning the rights to its technology.
Far from being a world vehicle, it is estimated that just about 1,000 units were produced in total.

1975 Fiat Baldi Frog

This fiberglass-bodied, Fiat 500-based microcar was built in San Remo, Italy by Carrozziere G.A.M.C. Baldi.

Baldi produced several different Fiat and Renault-based models, but the Frog was by far the most popular.

Baldi’s intent was to produce a practical car with the smallest possible size, as a solution to urban traffic congestion.

Only 85 inches (215cm) long, it is a whole 4 inches (10cm) shorter than a Smart car, and 20 inches shorter than the Fiat 500 upon which it is based.

Three engines were offered, ranging from 125cc to 595cc.

Built for only two years, the Frog went out of production after only 300 were produced.
