How do you keep a 5.3 alive at 8,600 RPM?

Start by paying attention to the little things.

Checking rod bolt stretch during assembly instead of just relying on a torque number. It takes a little longer, but when you’re asking an engine to do things it was never intended to do, the details matter.

Got an Audi B9 S5 in the shop getting a pretty good pile of Integrated Engineering parts thrown at it.

We’ll be converting this one over to IE’s Stage 2 TrueFlex setup, giving it the ability to run anything from pump gas to full E85 without having to switch tunes.

Plenty of parts to install, so I’ll post some more pictures once we get everything wrapped up and back together.

Putting the Tick Performance 1/2” head stud jig to work on this 5.3.

This one is going to see some serious boost, so we’re stepping up from the factory 11mm hardware to 1/2” head studs to help keep the heads where they belong.

Pretty slick setup from Tick and makes doing the conversion a whole lot easier!

Just finished designing this new tool to make oil changes a little less messy!

Options for either 3/8” or 1/2” drive deep well sockets, and printed from ASA for heat resistance and strength.

I gotta take a minute and do some nerd stuff here. Went out to the track the other day with the Audi and made a bunch of back to back 11.6 passes. Ambient temperature was 98-100F at the track with near 3000 DA. The best type of conditions for some torture testing! Quickest pass of the day went an 11.63@117 at 4085 race weight! This is a stage 1 car still on 034Motorsport e85 tune.

What really impressed me was how good the race front mount intercooler did! We started the run at 112.28 F and finished the run at 107.88 F. This intercooler was what made back to back consistent runs possible while keeping heat in check. This intercooler shows no signs of slowing down in the 500 hp range once so ever!

Nothing beats the sound of a cammed LS. 🔥

Here’s the finished result after the DOD delete, BTR Truck Norris cam install, and custom HP Tuners calibration. This Silverado has a great idle, drives like it should, and is ready to hit the road.

This Silverado came in with a stuck DoD lifter and was making all sorts of racket. So we replaced all of the lifters, valve springs, pushrods, oil pump, and camshaft with some goodies from the guys over at Brian Tooley Racing. The cam sounds so awesome in this 5.3!

Spent a little time on my own B9 Audi S4 today, switching it over to E85 with the Stage 1 034Motorsport tune. Can’t wait...
