In Memory of John Pattison
FMB Truck Outfitters and our employees extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of John Pattison.
John was much more than an employee to me. He was a friend.
Our friendship began through racing more than 40 years ago. John worked for Parnelli Jones in the tire division for many years. When Parnelli sold the tire business, it just wasn't as much fun for John anymore. One day, I received a call from him asking if I had any job openings. I made one for him, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made.
I spoke with John briefly on Friday. I asked how he was doing, and he told me he was good. We chatted about work for a while, and then I went into the office while he finished loading a truck.
On Monday morning, John didn't show up for work.
That was completely out of character for him.
His official start time was 7:00 a.m., but I could always count on seeing his car at the gate by 6:00 a.m. every day. In the eleven years he worked for me, he never missed a day without calling and never failed to show up when he was needed.
Concerned, I called the Sheriff's Department and requested a welfare check. They found John unresponsive in his home. It is believed he suffered a heart attack.
John was a key member of the FMB Truck Outfitters family. His work ethic, reliability, and dedication were second to none. We already miss him dearly.
But more than that, I will personally miss my friend.
John was a NASCAR official for more than 50 years, serving in NASCAR and the current NASCAR Menards Series West. He passed away on July 20 at the age of 71.
Those who knew John knew he was one of the good guys. He was dependable, humble, hardworking, and always willing to help wherever he was needed. He left a positive mark on countless people throughout his life.
John and his wife Mary are now together once again.
Services for John Pattison, a longtime Apple Valley resident, are pending.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Rest in peace, John. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
