It's a beautiful day here in Colorado Springs! I have been able to get alot of fresh faces in lately doing my free diagnostics. Today I'm dealing with a very strange electronic failure. It seems to be a series of programming failures that led to it not shifting out of park and the power steering being inoperative. Today I will be using a high level scan tool to reflash both items and recheck for computer failures. If you know anyone else that has a head scratcher then send them our way. We do oil changes to engines and everything in between along with suspension, brakes, and interior repairs. 719 432 6295

These newer cars have subscription services to run things like remote start systems and self driving. I love the safety of the new technology but yearn for the simplicity of the old technology. Alot of time in car repair any more is spent on diagnosis instead of repair and there is always a new system to learn about. I genuinely enjoy doing the diagnosis but it just costs the customer more and more as the vehicles get more complicated. A few weeks ago I had to remove half of the engine in a 2021 jeep wrangler(7 hours) just to be able to see the leak from the cylinder head. We ended up finding out she needed an engine. She declined and ended up trading the vehicle in because the vehicle on had 70,000 miles on it.

Today is a crap show of frozen and broken down vehicles. An HVAC company I do work for has a broken down truck on his way to fix houses with broken heaters, and then the tow truck broke down before he could get to the HVAC truck. We recently had a customer who had their Dodge Charger gear shifter break internally. These older chargers have issues with a lock rod in the shifter falling apart because it is built out of plastic. We were able to rebuild the shifter and make the vehicle run and drive normally again. Another happy customer! Pictured is the oroginal plastic peice and the metal replacement.
