Bud York Cycle

Bud York Cycle I'm Bud, this is my shop. We do repair and service and some custom work on Harley Davidson motorcycles of any year. But we've got experience and integrity.

And when I say "we", I mean me or Mark; we're the only techs here. We've got about 30 years experience between the two of us, and have worked on pretty much everything HD ever made. Bring us your bike and you will be talking to and dealing with us, the people that will be wrenching on your bike. No, we don't have a 40,000 square foot showroom with neon signs. We take care of our customers.

I am sad to say that today, December 21, 2018... was the day that Bud York retired and closed the doors on Bud York Cycle. He didn't want a lot of fanfare, but if you want to wish him well, I'll pass it on. He's not sick or anything like that, he's just ready to do something else for awhile.
THANKS BUD YORK AND MARK CARLTON!

Some days, motorcycles are just... for the birds. A helmet left on a shelf... turned into a bird house, complete with nest, then a kid's dirtbike, down for a week w/ a flat.... I saw something in the exhaust pipe...it turned out to be a tiny egg.... some sort of bird laid an egg inside the pipe.

Ok guys; here is your FREE, downloadable, printable calendar for September(yes, we know September is now 1/3 over) featuring a local bike and rider from "back in the day"?

This month we've got Doug/Rebecca Henderson as they were getting ready to leave on their honeymoon trip to Colorado aboard his BSA Lightning that has been raked, hardtailed, coffin-tank, extended front end, etc. etc. That was August 1975.

CLICK on the calendar photo below to view it full size in Facebook. Then put your cursor over the calendar image and right click your mouse. From the little pop-up menu chose "Save Image as..." and save it to your desktop or wherever. Then print it. It will print as a full 8 1/2 x 11 page for you to hang up on the fridge or your shop wall.

We want YOUR picture for next month's calendar. Yeah, we are looking for COOL photos of your bike and you(or your girl) from the '60s, '70's or maybe the '80's.

This is a "log motorcycle" that showed up on "Homemade Tools". It's just too weird for words.

Here is your FREE, downloadable, printable calendar for August featuring a local bike and rider from "back in the day"?

This month we've got Todd Whitekiller kickstarting his magneto panhead chopper from... we think, 1975, but... lot's of memories from that era are, a bit fuzzy.

CLICK on the small photo below to open view it full size in Facebook. Then put your cursor over the calendar image and right click your mouse. From the little pop-up menu chose "Save Image as..." and save it to your desktop or wherever. Then print it. It will print as a full 8 1/2 x 11 page for you to hang up on the fridge or your shop wall.

Now the REAL COOL part is... we want YOUR picture for the next month. Yeah, we are looking for COOL photos of your bike and you(or your girl) from the '60s, '70's or maybe the '80's. But NO LAME bikes! Your '67 Honda 305 Dream with windshield and saddlebags won't cut it.

The Marketing Department here at Bud York Cycles(that would be doug henderson) is trying something new... a FREE, downloadable, printable calendar featuring a local bike and rider from "back in the day"?

CLICK on the small photo below to open view it full size in Facebook. Then put your cursor over the calendar image and right click your mouse. From the little pop-up menu chose "Save Image as..." and save it to your desktop or wherever. Then print it. It will print as a full 8 1/2 x 11 page for you to hang up on the fridge or your shop wall. If you don't have a color printer... then choose the B&W image and do the same.

Harleys/Indians/British bikes... preferred. And, we want them from around here,Collinsville, or at least NE Oklahoma. Oh, yeah, it does need to be in focus and half way exposed correctly.

So scan that photo at a nice high resolution and send the .jpg file to [email protected]. And please include details, such as who, what, where, etc.

If you like this, or if it doesn't work for you, let me know. THANKS.

Two things:
1. Somebody, claiming to be Bud York, has created a page, complete with stolen photos of me. This is a SCAM, don't send him money, don't give him any information, and don't accept his Facebook Friend request. I have now taken down my personal page until this blows over.

2. If you have tried to call me on Wednesday and couldn't get through.... I paid my phone bill, I still have the same 918-636-6008 phone number, I haven't broken my phone. Verizon had a major fiber optical cable cut and most Verizon customers, including me, have been off line, but are now back up.

Bud York Cycle, and Mayor Bud York are still open for business, alive and well.

Sorry for any confusion or inconvenience this has caused.

Collinsville's Annual HOGS N HOTRODS is here once again!
Cars, Bikes, Music, etc. And once again Bud York Cycles is having the SWAP MEET.
Lots of good stuff, bargains, hard too find stuff, junk, and more.
We will be at 9th & Broadway, which is across the street west of Casey's Store. You can rent a booth for only $10. via Collinsville's Downtown Inc. website through the PayPal link or just pay me cash at the meet.

And if you would help us get the word out on this that would be good too. Seeyathere.

Here's a thought for today:

While you're bent over looking at your tires and checking their air pressure(which IS part of the operator's "Pre-Ride" inspection, you might want to take a look at your brake pads.

The person who's bike these came off of rode it here from Tahlequah in this condition(he didn't stop once....). Trust me, they have been worn out for a long time.

Everyone's safety depends on the bike being in road-worthy shape before it's ridden. Tires, Air Pressure and Brakes are really important.

Compared to the cost of... say, a funeral, or a body cast, brake pads are really cheap.

BUD YORK MOTORCYCLE QUIZ!
It's only three questions;you can do this.

1. What are these funny little marks around the edge of my tires?

Answer: They are TREAD WEAR INDICATORS and correspond to the"Wear Bars" on tire's tread. All tires have them. These TWI's are the "Thing-ee's" (technical term) between these two yellow arrow points in the forth picture.

2. WHERE do you measure the remaining tread depth on a tire?

Answer: At the Wear Bars! If there is no longer 2/32's (why don't they just say 1/16th?) of tread left at that point, the tire is worn out. For those who are mathematically challenged. Take a copper penny and stick Lincoln's head in your tire tread at the Wear Bar. If the penny won't go in deep enough to cover the top of his head.... your tires need to be retired and your bike re-tired.

3. HOW are your tires?

Answer: Come by Bud York Cycle today for your free(value; $.01) Lincoln Head Tire Wear Gauge and find out for yourself.

All kidding aside; Considering how much(100%) of your bike's straight line running, cornering, and braking depend on a very small patch of rubber...that's attempting traction on oily asphalt, loose gravel or rain-slick roads... riding on worn out tires make no sense.
