It is that time of the year… It is DOD delete season!

As crazy as it sounds, every single year when the weather changes, whether it’s cold to hot or hot to cold, we start seeing an absolute flood of DOD lifter failures come through the shop. It happens every time and this year is no different.

Last week alone we completed THREE full DOD deletes, all three being L83 5.3L’s. Every single one was knocked out flawlessly and executed exactly how it should be.

What’s even crazier is two of those trucks had already been told they needed COMPLETE NEW ENGINES.

They did NOT need new engines.

They had lifter failures.

Do not get roped into the “it needs a whole motor” scheme before having somebody who actually specializes in these engines look at it first. We fix these trucks every single day. These failures are extremely common on GM LS and LT platforms and properly diagnosing them matters.

A loud tick, misfire, check engine light, collapsed lifter, bent pushrod, low cylinder contribution, excessive valve train noise, all of that does NOT automatically mean your engine is junk!

WE SPECIALIZE IN 1999 TO PRESENT GM LS AND LT V8 ENGINES IN ALL GM CARS, TRUCKS, AND SUVS.

Why take your vehicle somewhere that occasionally works on these platforms when you can bring it to a shop that lives and breathes them every day? We know these platforms inside and out because this is what we specialize in, day in and day out!

Whether it’s stock daily drivers, work trucks, performance builds, cam packages, DOD deletes, turbo setups, diagnostics, tuning, or complete engine builds, this is what we do!

We appreciate every single one of you that trusts us with your vehicles. The amount of support you guys continue to show us does not go unnoticed and we truly cannot thank you enough for it!

If your GM Car, truck, or SUV is making noise, misfiring, ticking, dropping cylinders, or somebody already told you it needs an engine, give us a call before making that decision!

Extremely clean 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 regular cab short bed 4x4 V8 in the shop this week! Owned by the one and only FeatherFoot Garage!

For you guys that know, these trucks are getting hard to find… and finding one this clean? That’s on a whole different level. What makes it even crazier is this truck is sitting at 300,000 miles, but you’d swear it has less than half of that!

Initially brought it to us because the truck lost all gears, but After digging into it, we found the issue. Every torque converter bolt had broken out of the converter, taking the threads with them and were just bouncing around inside the bellhousing. That ended up taking out the rear main seal and even cracking the oil pan.

So we went ahead and gave it what we like to call our “keep oil inside the engine” upgrade!

We pulled the motor for proper access and went through it the right way:
• Replaced the damaged oil pan
• Installed a Melling high-volume oil pump
• New TMBX torque converter
• Rear main seal
• New valve cover gaskets
• New timing cover gasket and front crank seal
• New water pump gaskets
• New spark plugs
• Extracted all broken exhaust manifold bolts
• New exhaust manifold gaskets
• New intake manifold gaskets
• EGR delete and blocked off at the intake

Put it all back together the way it should be so this thing is ready to go another 300k

Huge thank you to Austin for trusting us with this truck, we appreciate the business as always!

If you’re looking for a super clean older (or even newer) Chevy pickup, get with featherfoot garage and shoot him a message, tell him we sent you!

And if you’re needing work like this done or want to give your truck a fresh start, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’ve got you covered!

Here’s one you guys haven’t seen in 2 1/2 years!

This is MY personal 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 RCSB 4x4 truck. But it is at its best now! Last go around, it was a 6.2L ls3, cam, stall, & 80mm turbo. It was fast but not this fast!

Now it is a:
- 417ci stroker LS3
- Callie’s 4” forged crank
- Callie’s extreme forged rods
- Diamond flat top forged pistons
- Cam motion custom grind cam
- PRC 260 LS3 heads
- .040 head gaskets
- twin 62/62 precision Turbos
- factory 07-13 L92 truck intake for the haters

It made 1,016rwhp on 18psi!

This truck is an absolute trip! And I can’t be more pleased with how it’s running!

Huge thank you to Strong Speed Works for spending the late nights helping and tuning in this bad Larry!

We had something pretty special in the shop last week.. a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab SHORT bed. If you know, you know… these trucks are getting harder to come by, and this one definitely didn’t come in or leave stock!

Under the hood, it showed up with a 5.3 and a small cam paired to a 78/75 turbo, still running a factory fuel system with decapped injectors. Quick note for anyone considering that route… don’t. Decapped injectors are wildly inconsistent and unpredictable, and that’s a fast track to hurting a motor!

As always, we stepped in and did it the right way. This truck got:
-RHP Truck Plus cam
-PAC 1218 springs
-Comp 7.400 pushrods
(setup responds extremely well under boost)
- 4” electric cutout

Fuel system? Completely redone. We built a serious setup with a full Chris1313 racing system with his drop in dual 535 pumps in-tank, -8 feed, -6 return, and regulation after the rails. It’s now running FIC 1000cc injectors in deatchwerks -8 fuel rails, an Aeromotive regulator, and an E85 sensor mounted cleanly with a Motion Raceworks bracket. This thing now has the fuel system it should’ve had from the start!

The 4L80E was a little tired too, so we freshened it up with new high-energy clutches and installed a TransGo HD2 shift kit to handle the power and keep things reliable! Also, topped it all off with a FTI 3600 stall converter!

Huge shoutout to Strong Speed Works for tuning this ripper!

Also, another big shoutout to this customer, he’s brought us multiple vehicles and continues to trust us with his builds! We truly appreciate the continued support and look forward to not just finishing this one, but the projects still to come!

This 2007 GMC Yukon came in far from “family ready”… cylinder 7 was completely out of line. After tearing into it, we found the culprit… the lifter had actually broken in half!

We tore it down and upgraded it with a full BTR Truck Norris cam kit along with all the supporting components it needs to perform at its best abilities. We also installed A Melling high-volume oil pump and resealed the engine top to bottom to make sure everything is solid for the long haul!

But you know us.. we couldn’t stop there!
We went through the 4L60E transmission and freshened it up to handle the power:
• High-energy heavy-duty clutches
• TransGo HD2 shift kit
• New input sprag
• Heat-treated sun shell
• All new seals/gaskets
• Finished off with a 3200 stall converter

Tied everything together with a dialed-in tune from Strong Speed Works and this thing came out exactly how it should’ve!

Drives smooth when you want it to… but put your foot down and it wakes right up. The stall matches the setup perfectly, the power is right where it needs to be, and the sound? Absolutely wicked!!

This is what we mean when we say we don’t cut corners. You can have reliability, performance, and something that’s actually fun to drive, all in one package!

Thank you for your business!

We’re incredibly grateful for the support from our customers and the community. Every day, seven days a week, we receive a large volume of phone calls.. and even many after hours! Which I do not mind at all! I do my best to answer each one personally because I genuinely enjoy talking with you and helping however I can!

With that said, one of the most common questions I get is about pricing. The truth is, there will always be shops that are cheaper, and there will also always be shops that are more expensive. We understand that everyone has different budgets and expectations, and we respect that!

In my shop, we take pride in doing the job right the first time. Some may consider our pricing on the higher side, but that’s because we stand behind our work 1000%. If there’s ever an issue, even though it’s unlikely, we’ll be here to make it right! No runaround, no excuses, we back everything we do to the letter!

If you’re shopping strictly for the lowest price, we may not be the best fit. If you’re looking for a quick patch-up just to get by, we’re probably not the shop for that either. Although there are SEVERAL instances where a quick and simple fix makes sense, and when it does, we’re more than happy to help! But most of the time, cutting corners ends up causing bigger problems down the road, for you and for us. We’d rather do it properly the first time than have it come back later.

We specialize in GM V8 platforms from 1997 all the way to present-day 2026 models. These are vehicles we work on every single day, and we know them like the back of our hand. Because of that experience, we’re able to diagnose and repair them correctly and efficiently without guesswork.

Another factor in our pricing is the quality of parts we choose to use. We stick with components that we’ve tested hundreds and hundreds of times with proven reliability. Using trusted, quality parts helps prevent comebacks and ensures that our repairs/upgrade will last! Which ultimately benefits everyone involved!

We truly appreciate every call, every message, and every opportunity to earn your business. Our focus has always been quality, honesty, and standing behind our work. That’s what we believe our customers deserve. We love each and every one of you guys. Without you, we wouldn’t be where we are at today!

1991 Chevy Silverado C1500 in the shop for a LS Swap!

This truck pulled in with a tired old 350sbc and a weak 700R4 transmission. The customer wanted us to do what we do best, make it run and perform like new… actually, better than new… So that’s exactly what we did!

We swapped in a 6.2L L99 engine paired with a 6L80 transmission out of a 2011 Camaro SS and completely went through everything to make this truck perform, drive, and look like it came this way from the factory!

ENGINE & PERFORMANCE UPGRADES:
• Complete DOD & VVT delete
• BTR Stage 2 LS3 camshaft
• BTR dual 660” valve springs
• BTR pushrods
• Melling high-volume oil pump
• ICT Billet power steering & A/C brackets
• Custom-built cold air intake with frame-mounted bracket for a secure fit
• All new gaskets on entire engine

TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE:
• 6L80 transmission swap
• 3200 stall converter
• ICT billet transmission cooler line adapter
• -6 transmission cooler lines to TRU-COOL 40k
• Custom 6L80 swap crossmember
• Custom length 2 piece driveshaft

EXHAUST & COOLING:
• 1 7/8” Speed Engineering long tube headers
• Full 3-inch custom exhaust built 100% in-house from headers back
• 2007-13 style larger radiator upgrade
• 2007-13 factory truck electric fans wired into the ECU to function like factory.
• Custom built radiator and fan bracket

INTERIOR FINISHING TOUCH:
• Dakota Digital gauges to tie everything together cleanly
• Corvette DBW electronic throttle pedal with Holley brackets

We honestly can’t describe how good this truck drives. It drives like a factory vehicle, has throttle response like you would not believe, and an awesome sound that you absolutely cannot beat!

The swap itself looks like it came factory with this motor. Everything works exactly as it should. The engine bay is super clean, the only wiring visible is factory wiring from the truck. Fully tucked harness, hidden routing, and attention to detail everywhere you look! The entire motor, engine cover, and all custom parts are painted with automotive base/clear to the factory trucks color!

Yet again, HUGE thank you to Strong Speed Works for knocking the tune out flawlessly!

If you’re wanting a swap done to this level, just know, they’re not cheap to make look this good. But when it’s finished and you turn the key, it is 100% worth it.

Thank you for your business!

Another one in the shop, 2019 Silverado 1500 with the L84 5.3L… and yep, a classic DOD failure!

We’ve been seeing a BIG spike in these lately. Honestly, the 2019–2025 trucks are getting right up there with, if not worse than, the 2007–2018 trucks when it comes to DOD-related issues. Lifters collapsing, misfires, engine damage… it’s becoming way too common.

So we went ahead and fixed this one the RIGHT way with a Full DOD delete kit!
- GM L84 non-DOD cam
- LS7 lifters
- GM lifter trays
- L84 head gaskets
- GM head bolts
- New exhaust manifold gaskets
- Fresh engine fluids
- Full ECM & TCM unlock + flash

Just like that, this truck is now set up so it NEVER has to deal with DOD failure again! (Or that annoying auto stop/start)

Huge shoutout to Strong Speed Works for absolutely killing it on the tuning side and making everything come together perfectly!

We like these trucks just as much as you guys do, but we don’t like seeing them come apart because of a system that’s known to fail. If you’ve got one of these and you’re even thinking about it… now’s the time to get ahead of it before it turns into a much bigger (and more expensive) problem!

If you’re tired of worrying every time you start your car, truck, or SUV.. shoot us a message. We’ll get you taken care of, answer any questions, and figure out a plan that works for you!

Let’s make your vehicle something you can rely on!

Thank you for your business!

You guys are loving these reseals on all of the 1999–2006 LS engines, and honestly we love doing them too!

2005 Silverado 1500 in the shop with 198,000 miles on the clock… The truck came in running good… but it left running even better!

It rolled in with about 30 PSI of oil pressure and after going through it the right way, it left here with a strong 80 PSI. That’s the difference a proper refresh makes.

This one got a complete engine reseal. Every single gasket on the 5.3L was replaced so the owner doesn’t have to worry about leaks or weak oil pressure again anytime soon.

Here’s a quick rundown of what we replaced while we had it apart:

• Valve cover gaskets
• Intake manifold gaskets
• Water pump gaskets
• Timing cover gasket
• Front crankshaft seal
• Rear main seal
• Oil pan gasket
• Oil pickup tube O-ring
• Exhaust manifold gaskets
• Head gaskets

While we were in there we also installed:
• All new lifters
• New lifter trays
• New oil pressure sensor
• Melling high volume oil pump

The owner plans to keep this truck forever, so we made sure it was done the right way so it can keep hauling, towing, and driving for many more years!

As always, we really appreciate his business and the trust he put in us to take care of his truck!

If your 1996-present GM V8 car, truck, or SUV needs a reseal, refresh, lifters, oil pump, or just some preventative work before problems start.. give us a shout. These LS engines are tough, and with the right maintenance they’ll run a long time.

2005 Tahoe in the shop last week for a VERY WELL NEEDED reseal and freshen up!

This Tahoe came in ticking its life away with lower oil pressure than we like to see on these. Upon disassembly, 13 out of the 16 lifters had absolutely no plunger live left, & oil leaked out of every single gasket on this engine!

So we got the customer covered with:
-COMPLETE engine RESEAL from oil pan to intake
-Meiling HV oil pump
-All 16 new LS7 lifters
-New lifter trays
-New valve seals & valve lap
-New 5.3L headgaskets & head bolts
-Removed all broken off exhaust bolts from heads
-New oil pressure sensor
-New engine fluids

We wrapped it up with a slight custom tune from Strong Speed Works, nothing crazy hotroddy, just a smooth and clean little bump in power!

Tahoe came in ticking with 20psi of oil pressure, and left here quiet as a church mouse with 65psi+

Are you in need of a service like this on your 1999-2025 GM car, truck, or SUV? Give us a shout! Let’s get your GM a second chance!

Thank you for your business!
