In the State of Texas, you now have the Right to Appraisal for auto claims when you / your body shop and the insurance company disagree on what it will take to repair your vehicle. The next step in the regulatory process with Tx Department of Insurance involves who steps in as the mediator. We feel the vehicle owner should choose the mediator, not the insurance company. A common question that we get from customers is "What is the best insurance company out there?" That can be a tough question to answer based on customer service, timeliness in processing claims and payments, approving proper repair procedures, etc. CRASH Network publishes an annual Insurer Report Card based on answers from body shops across the country to one question - How well does this company's claims handling policies, attitude and payment practices ensure quality repairs and customer service for motorists?

Below is a link to the full 2026 Insurer Report Card that covers 119 insurance companies. They zero in on the 10 largest insurance companies and how they ranked this year (chart shown below), and state in their introduction to the report that "many of the insurers getting the highest grades are smaller or regional insurers that aren't spending billions of dollars a year on advertising." This is a good read as it summarizes things to think about when shopping around for auto insurance. They provide the nationwide grades as well as break down the list by region.
