PUT UP ONE HELL OF A FIGHT… BUT IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!
This 1978 Camaro originally came through the doors for a few smaller jobs… which quickly turned into a much bigger project and eventually became one of the coolest cars we’ve had come through the shop!
The initial order of business:
🔧 New driveshaft
🔥 Custom exhaust
💻 Custom dyno tune
🛞 New wheels & tires
📐 Alignment
💨 Intake tube installation
After getting the driveshaft, exhaust, wheels and tires, and intake tube installed, we loaded up our base startup tune and got the car running.
That’s when it decided to throw us a curveball…
The car could sit and idle ALL DAY with perfect oil pressure. But drive it just 1–2 blocks down the road, and it would suddenly lose oil pressure.
After extensive testing and inspection, we finally tracked the problem down to a faulty off-brand “muscle car” oil pan.
Unfortunately, by that point we were already finding metal in the oil from the engine being starved of oil.
Rather than take any chances, the customer made the call to replace the engine and transfer all of his performance parts over to the new setup. While we were at it, we ditched the questionable oil pan and installed a quality name-brand pan.
And wouldn’t you know it…
PROBLEM SOLVED. 💪
From there, we finished the custom dyno tune, aligned the car, dialed in the suspension, and got everything working together the way it should.
What started as a handful of smaller jobs turned into one hell of a project—but the finished product made every bit of the fight worth it.
