A little update: a few months ago we posted that we were dealing with a property line issue and that all racing was on hold for the year.
Last year after our fall race we received a cease and desist from the property owners of the empty lot next to the race track. Upon receiving this, we found out that the neighbors didn't own the lot, but someone across town. Over the years the backstretch of the track has naturally widened and encroached over the line by about 2 feet, but with it being an empty lot and the neighbors knowing about it, we didn't give it any thought.
After talking with the property owner's lawyer, he has told us that the owners will only accept a reconfiguration of the track. Liability waivers will not suffice. So all of this to say, racing at Tornado Motor Speedway is on hold indefinitely.
I don't believe Tornado has seen its last race but we're not in a financial position to spend several thousand dollars bringing in heavy equipment to reconfigure it at the moment. We are open to any ideas and help, but at this time Tornado Motor Speedway will be on hiatus.
