A truck with 120,000 highway miles and full service records often beats one with 80,000 miles of stop-and-go towing. Ask specifically about transmission fluid changes, not just oil changes. A seller who can't answer that is telling you something.

Wash and wax the exterior, including the wheel wells. Vacuum the interior and clear out trash and strong odors.

Spend your money where buyers look first: the driver's seat, dashboard, and front grille. Replace burnt-out bulbs and worn wiper blades, and top off fluids before any test drive.
