This 2004 Mazda 3 decided the blower was going to whine, then the blower motor resistor decided it was time to quit. Little did we know a great part of the dash has to come apart just to get to the blower motor and much more just to get to the resistor. Got it all replaced and buttoned back up. Got the system blowing again just before the cold snap and snow hit us.

This Mazda 3 was making some serious noise. Customer was worried transmission was out. Wanted a full tune up and hoped a trans filter and oil change would fix the noise. Found both axles in this shape and made sense as for the noise. Replaced spark plugs, oil change, transmission filter and fresh oil, 2 new CV axles with axle seals. Back on the road and running very good.

These beauty had an engine swapped a few years ago and started leaking oil. Customer decided to park it as to not damage the engine. After a few years decided it was time to repair the leaks. Rear main was pouring, front main was leaking good, oil pan was questionable. Got it all out and seals replaced. Missing a ton of hardware, 4 of the 7 trans to engine bolds were missing, bracket bolts were missing, just a bunch of missing bolts. Luckily years of stripping cars for parts and buckets of bolts came in to get everything bolted up correctly. Also, intake boot was in bad shape.
So what caused the leaks if it just got an engine installed. Well, even though it was a good engine with less miles there is no telling how long the engine sat in storage before being installed. Rubber components, usually the seals will dry out and/or rot, once the engine starts working again those rubber parts can crack and leak. We gladly replace engine with used engines that are in good condition, we always push to have gaskets replaced and other up keep items like timing belt and water pumps, spark plugs, and such parts. It's easier with the engine out and it gives a used engine a fighting chance and the customer peace of mind.

Audi A4 had a switch directly wired to the battery to turn the radiator fans on and off. This was the "fix" someone had done. They simply ran a wire from the yellow wire to the battery and to a manual switch in the car so the driver would have to switch the fans on and off. The next Pic shows how the green and yellow wire had rubbed through the insulation and would make contact shorting the wires to each other. This would prevent the fans from coming on. Cut and spliced to repair, then heat shrink and electrical tape to protect it from the elements.

So customer states engine was replaced, but started leaking something and was worried. Has had it parked and decided it was time to fix it. Here at Chico's we replace engines, but we take the extra step of replacing rear and front main seals, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets, spark plugs, plug wires, and just anything that looks wrong or has potential for failure. If we use a used engine we want to give that engine the best chance possible.
This Honda Accord has a leaky rear main seal.
