Entered the ‘68 Corvette I just completed mainly so I would have an easy parking situation at Goodguys while I was there with another car we finished and would you look at that!? We got an award. Hot dawg.

It’s funny how one simple thing like wheels can drastically change how a vehicle presents. When this car was put together I thought the 20” Torq Thust would be a great Hot Wheels type of look.

I tried out some 18” chrome American Racing and it dramatically changed how it looks. Significantly better IMO.

I think that has it dialed in and ready to go to a new home.

We have obtained from a private party in Detroit through and intermediary, a pre-production test mule set of wheels and tires from the C6 Corvette development program. The story when we obtained these was that they were part of the C6 Corvette development program, and rather than being destroyed, they were kept in private hands. Although they appeared to be unique and it certainly seemed possible, we did not know for sure until we were removed one of the tires and found the GM labels inside the barrel.

These wheels were manufactured for GM by CCW. As you can see in the photos they were furnished to Hutchinson Industries by GM for test use. Hutchinson is a tier 1 supplier to GM. The transit label as well as the label, indicating GM reproduction were only found after removing the tire from one of the wheels.

You can also see the tires are Goodyear EMT that are marked with special serial numbers both written on the side and molded into the side of the tire. The side of the tire is also marked with “not for sale”. Interesting because the C6 is notably the car that Goodyear lost their contract with GM as the OEM tire provider. When the car hit production, Michelin tires were the original equipment. So presumably these tires were one of the lots that Goodyear provided, that ultimately did not get selected by GM.

The wheels as you can see in the photos are in need of some restoration which we will be doing before listing them for sale on Bring a Trailer.

Inquiries to purchase this set prior to their listing are welcome.  as you can imagine something like this is exceedingly rare, and from the research we have done. These would currently be the only known set still in existence.

Reverse-opening hood going on the ‘68 Camaro. Powered opening and closing, it it rides on an elaborate hinge-strut system driven by two linear actuators.

We rebuilt the 402 in this 1970 Chevelle SS 396 this past week. Owner had an unfortunate failure with flat-tapped cam not surviving. We went through it and cleaned it all outc fresh bearings, and installed a ZZ502 hydraulic roller cam and full-roller rockers. Cut down the valve guides and converted to positive stop seals while installing appropriate valve springs. Runs excellent and sounds great!

Did something on my 68 Corvette build I’m not sure has ever been done before. Dual mode, mufflers, paired with cut outs. Allows this car to go from stealth mode, to a nice grumble, all the way up to full NASCAR mode.
