🏁 AUTO CITY SPEEDWAY UPDATE – AUGUST 23 🏁
To our racers, fans, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters,
Unfortunately, we have another difficult update to share. We will not be able to reopen for our September 5th Maximum Destruction event.
We know how disappointing it is to keep hearing about cancellations. Believe us, no one wants to get back to racing more than we do.
There IS progress, and we want everyone to know that things are moving forward:
✅ The new fencing is installed and looks great.
✅ Wi-Fi has been restored, although we are still working to get coverage throughout the entire racetrack.
✅ Much of the electrical work is completed, and we are waiting on the final electrical inspection.
✅ The new scoreboard is here, but still needs to be assembled and installed.
✅ Work continues on the ticket and entrance areas.
One thing that may be difficult to see from the outside is just how much was lost in the fire. We didn't simply lose a building.
We lost much of the behind-the-scenes infrastructure that makes it possible to operate a racetrack—the computer and internet equipment, cash registers, credit card machines, communications, scoring-related equipment and many of the everyday systems that have to work before we can open the gates.
At the same time, we have had to rebuild the ticket area, restore electrical and internet service, install fencing, replace equipment and coordinate contractors, deliveries and inspections.
It has been a much bigger undertaking than we ever dreamed when this started. Every time we think we're getting close, another piece of the puzzle still needs to be completed.
We also still need HELP. There are many projects, both big and small, that need to be finished. If you have some time and are willing to lend a hand with construction, cleanup, painting, general labor or other projects, please message us. Even a few hours can make a difference.
We especially want to keep our racers informed as early as possible so they can make plans to race elsewhere rather than waiting on us. We know your racing season is short too, and we don't want anyone left wondering.
This has taken more time, money, energy and patience than we ever imagined—but we are still working, and we are still moving forward.
Facility rentals also continue to be available while the rebuilding work is underway. Please message us if you are interested.
