Sailing on our Mukilteo/Clinton route in early 2026? Keep reading.

Between January 5 and Feb. 13, 2026, our Mukilteo/Clinton route will be out of service for a few midday sailings over nine weekdays, plus one late night sailing the night before, for repairs to an in-water structure at the Mukilteo dock. Because this terminal has only one slip, ferries cannot run while this work is happening. The closures are being planned outside of the busiest commute times.

Morning sailings will end after the 8:30 a.m. sailing out of Clinton and the 9 a.m. Mukilteo departure. Service will resume with the 1 p.m. sailing out of Clinton and the 1:30 p.m. Mukilteo departure. We will share the exact dates once a contractor is hired this fall.

This will be a big impact so we are letting you know NOW (and will continue doing so as we approach the start date) so that you can plan ahead.

Attn Parkers! We’ve changed our rates for the first time in 8 years.

In an effort to move away from $1 bills, we’ve restructured our rates.

For those who have asked about electronic payment, we continue to search for a good option. We’ve been told by some of the more prominent parking payment companies that we’re too small and “it just doesn’t make fiscal sense.”

For now, thank you for bringing cash or check, just as it’s been since 1963.

Mukilteo is seeking input about parking as they consider developing their waterfront. Seems like islanders should weigh in. Thanks Port of South Whidbey for the tip.

Hurray! Long-term parking in Mukilteo!!

"The lot has 36 monthly permit stalls that cost $300 each. There was a 17-person waitlist for those, Soper said.

Another 63 stalls are for parking up to 72 hours. Overnight parking lets travelers leave their car on the mainland when visiting Whidbey Island, where they can board public buses without paying a fare. Those spots cost $28 a day.

Other durations are up to 2 hours for $2.50, 4 hours for $5 and 10 hours for $20."

The 99-stall lot on the former ferry holding lanes includes 63 spots for someone to leave a car for up to 72 hours.

Wishing our island community a wonderful holiday season. We’re so grateful to all who’ve parked with us in 2021. As is our tradition, parking is free through Christmas.

Remember, please be respectful of other parkers and use Ferry Dock Road for pick-ups and drip-offs. And stay safe in the upcoming snow!

Warmly,
The Robertsons

Looks like weekend ferry-lines are going to continue for a while... From Washington State Ferries:

"Muk/Clin and Edm/King Routes on One-Boat Weekend Service Until Further Notice

Because of a continued shortage of available crew during the COVID-19 pandemic, service on the Mukilteo/Clinton and Edmonds/Kingston routes will remain on one-boat weekend service until further notice.

Travelers looking to travel on either route should plan ahead by checking Mukilteo / Clinton Schedule and Edmonds / Kingston Schedule and be prepared for long waits if driving onto a state ferry on the weekends. The #1 boat will be the only boat in service. Customers should consider traveling during non-peak times in the early mornings and later in the evening, and limiting non-essential travel.

Those who do sail during this time are strongly encouraged to remain in their vehicles for the duration of their trip, while those in the cabin should practice safe physical distancing, wash your hands and avoid traveling if you feel ill. Please be reminded that face coverings are required in all public spaces in the State of Washington.

WSF apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for your patience and understanding during this challenging time. We will continue to provide updates as soon as they become available."

Washington State Ferries offers a free travel alert subscription service via email or text message. Travel Alerts help you stay informed of conditions on your route so you can plan ahead.
