How's your blood pressure? Do you have any idea? Could you be at risk for a heart attack or a stroke? The high stress holidays are quickly approaching. So, why not use Check Your Blood Pressure Day to find out what your blood pressure is today!!? It will only go higher as the holidays approach.

For those of us who check out okay, we can charge into the holidays, knowing that we can handle whatever stresses the holidays bring. IF your blood pressure is a little high, or more than a little high, you've got time before Thanksgiving to check it out with your physician before the real stress begins.

Did You Know? Blood pressure tends to increase with age. This does not mean it is normal or okay. If your blood pressure is high, see your doctor.

For most of us, checking our blood pressure is easy and free If you already have a home monitor, just slap on the cuff and take a reading. If to, you don't have to go to the doctors to have it checked. Drug stores and many grocery chains have kiosks located near the prescription area, where you can check it for free. Many ambulance companies, especially the volunteers, will accept walk ins. (.Ps If it is a volunteer ambulance company, why not make a donation while you're there?

Did You Know? Low blood pressure, while uncommon, can also be dangerous or the symptom of a health problem.

We invite you to bite into your favorite sandwich, for today is Sandwich Day. The sandwich is truly a great creation. Sandwiches are a daily luncheon staple for millions of Americans.

The Creation of the Sandwich:

The annals of English history report that John Montague was the 4th Earl of Sandwich. he wasw born on this day in 1718. Among other things, the 4th Earl of Sandwich was a heavy gambler. Montagu often spent many long hours in London's gambling parlors. In 1762, he created the sandwich, by putting meat between two pieces of bread. This allowed him to remain at the gambling table for long periods of time. Obviously, the sandwich was named after him

Celebrate this special day by eating sandwiches at every meal! Consume your favorite sandwich. Better yet, be bold and daring..... try a new sandwich!
PS Don't forget to wash your hands first.

The Christian holiday of All Soul's Day pays respect and remembers the souls of all friends and loved ones who have died and gone to heaven. It is a time to pray for their souls that they may be received into heaven. Upon death, it is believed that souls have not yet been cleansed of sin. Praying for souls of loved ones helps to remove the stain of sin, and allow the souls to enter the pearly gates of heaven. All Souls Day was started in 998.

Often people will pray to their lost loved ones and even ask for special favors.

Did you know? All Souls Day is sometimes called the "Day of the Dead".

National Gumbo Day is today. It's a great opportunity, to enjoy a little Louisiana Cajun cooking. It is easy to participate in this special day. Simply eat some Gumbo. For those of us in the south, that is easy, as Gumbo is almost all restaurant menus. You can't walk into a restaurant in New Orleans, that does not offer it. For Northerners, it may take a little research, to find restaurants in your area that serve Gumbo. Or, you may want to look a Gumbo recipe online, and make it yourself.

Gumbo is a thick stew, with chicken, beef, or seafood. It is heavily seasoned with cajun spices. And, it absolutely must contain Okra.

Did You Know? Gumbo is the African word for Okra

To celebrate National Gumbo Day, just have a dish of it. The day is extra special, if you make it yourself.

Have a happy National Gumbo Day.
