Precision measurement in a controlled environment with normalized components is where the RAT process begins. Here QA for piston ring groove flatness, skirt cam dimsenion and piston ring radial depth is being carried out. To correctly measure and log all components takes more time than others spend on the entire engine assembly process. This is the difference.

When we need a special component for a special engine we don’t buy it. We find a piece of scrap 7075 aerospace aluminum, whip up a design and manufacture it in house at Raby Machine Works. Of course to do this requires designing and machining fixturing for second operation work holding. I figured that I’d give the vehicle owner a choice of designs, so I made him 3 pulleys to choose from/ for spares. The unique design incorporates a multi- fastener bolt together design that is much stronger than the factory 911 retention method. We’ll be dynamically balancing it as a complete assembly with our billet 930 cooling fan on Monday. Then comes our in house anodizing of the components.
Time? We don’t care about that here. Everything is unique and ours. Nothing gets in the way of creativity. Not budget. Not the calendar. Not the telephone and not business.

The Raby 930 Turbo engine is now fully mocked up including all ancillaries. What you see here is USA made from billet aluminum in house at Raby Machine Works and LN Engineering with some turbo specific systems via Turbo Kraft.
Now it is time to disassemble, clean the components and add some additional detail along with the Motec engine management system to finish up this project.
