Remember there are 2 typically two ways to have water in your RV or camper.

-- Fresh water holding tank-- sizes range from 20 gal to over 100 gal and are supplied via 12V water pump (gets power from your converter via 12V battery).

-- Water is approx. 8.34 lbs per gallon, so make sure you calculate the freshwater weight you will be carrying.

-- City water inlet: this is typically a direct connection located on the exterior of the camper or could be in a compartment and make sure you use a standard RV drinking water hose (typically white) and it is recommended to add a water pressure regulator to help prevent leaks inside the camper.

If you haven't filled up your freshwater tank for a while or if you have left old water in there from your last trip (which was last year), consider draining the tank and cleaning it before your next use.

You can also purchase inline water filters to help keep contaminants out and taste better.

Before going on your trip, if your RV or camper has a gas or LP generator, make sure you start it and let it run for at least an hour or more under a load (ideally once a month when in storage or not in use). If the generator won't start up right away;

1. are your 12V batteries fully charged and is the disconnect switch in the off position? If they don't have enough voltage, it will not start.
2. If yes, but nothing, do you have enough fuel? Less than 1/4 of gas, typically won't allow them to start either, or if the gas is old and may have sediment or debris in it.
3. Have you checked the oil level? (some generators will not start or will try to start and shut down if there isn't enough oil)
4. If it runs and there isn't any electricity being produced (you can check the microwave), are the breakers on the generator off or tripped?
5. Also, on older coaches the 30/50 amp cord had to be plugged into the unit to provide the camper with power once the generator was running.
6. There is also an Onan Troubleshooting guide that is free online that may also solve some of these issues and or others as well as YT videos.

If you have checked all of these above and are still having issues, you may want to contact an RV dealer that services Onan generators or other types of generators.

If you already own an RV, this is a gentle reminder to make sure you check your tire air pressure (spare too) before your next trip.

In the two pictures (top is on a 2023 travel trailer, tire was made 1922, 19th week of 2022, probably doesn't have many miles on it, 1 owner camper, overall looks in decent shape, but may worth putting new tires on it to start fresh even though it hasn't hit the 5 yr avg RV tire rule)

The tire in the 2nd picture is on a 5th /wheel camper, and you can see in the picture some cracking and dry rotted spots and this camper was in an RV park and when sold will definitely need new tires).

( So, this post isn't about tire brands as everyone has their own opinions and experiences, but more about checking them for safety)

Make sure you follow all tire manufacturer/load recommendations.

Consider replacing tires if you see any issues of concern including (but not limited to), cracking in the treads or sidewalls, dead spots or bulges, missing valve stems etc.

Why buy an RV? It's not just about going camping in a travel trailer or motor home. We personally have memories growing up and going camping at Ft. Wilderness with our family and Ft. De Soto and also have our own versions of 'Griswold' events while traveling; but truth be told, looking back, those were some of the best times. So, if the camper will help you spend more time with your spouse and children, family and grandchildren, or maybe give you a temporary place to live or whatever you are wanting to do, think about those memories; that's what matters. For some options check out
