Well folks, yesterday was the first day of operating in the new shop. It's still a ways from being completely finished , but I needed to get out of the other building asap due to it's pending sale. That also means I may have to do some 4 day work weeks until I finish moving, as there's still some things I've yet to move out of the old shop. Sorting through 40 years of accumulation seems daunting at times. Hopefully it'll all be worth it. 😉

Yesterday marked what I guess you could call the end of an era. After nearly 41 years, I completed the last customer job at the N Lee location. In two weeks (with luck!) I'll start operating out of my new shop at 6402 S 135th St W (100ft E of 135th W on 63rd St S).

Now begins the job of packing stuff up and moving. Two weeks sounds like a lot of time and also not nearly enough...

Well folks, that day that I've been promising for so long will soon happen. I've got a purchase contract on my building, so I really need to be out of here by the first week in December. That means once I finish the current list of jobs this week, I will be shutting down for about 2 weeks while we get everything moved. Barring unforeseen circumstances, that's my current plan. It feels a lot like "ready or not, here we go!" but what else can I do? I guess I'll see you on the other side!

I know I keep saying I'll being moving 'soon', but 'soon' seems to be an ever moving target. I'm currently planning to take off next week (Oct 23-27) to work on competing the new shop. There's still a lot to do, the biggest being getting heat installed. My hope is that I'll be able to move sometime in early November. My plan is to be back the week of Oct 30 - Nov3 and then to work short weeks until I move. (Some things can only be done on week days). As anyone who has built a home knows, construction work rarely gets completed on schedule, there's always delays outside of your control.

Thanks to all my clients for their continued patience.

Many of you have asked how long I'll continue to be in my current location. My latest plan is to move sometime this fall. Summer tends to be one of the busiest seasons, and the extreme heat hasn't made things go any smoother. I'm hoping that once it cools off I can find the time (and energy!) to finish getting the new shop ready for the move. There's still a lot of things that need to be completed before I can consider it usable.

I was really hoping to have the new shop ready to move into this weekend, but things are not going as quickly as I'd hoped. I'm thinking I may have to go to 4 day work weeks until this project is completed due to some suppliers not being open on weekends. If I had the budget to have a crew come in and finish it, it would be done by now, but I don't so it isn't. 😛 Thanks for everyone's patience while I complete this project.

05/26/2023

I'll be closed May 29 until at least June 5 while I work on finishing the new shop. I'm hoping to be moved in the first full week of June. There's still a lot to do, but if I can get it at least semi operable I need to get this move done. Wish me luck!

I've had several people ask when I'm moving to the new location. The short answer is "When it's ready!". LOL The longer answer is that this project is becoming an expensive endeavor, and I'm having to space out my expenditures a bit. I'm hoping to have it to a point where I can move in at the end of May. Until then, I will continue to operate out of the current location.

02/07/2023

Believe it or not, as of Feb 1 this year I've been in this location for 40 years!

As you may have noticed, the new building has been erected, though it's running several weeks behind schedule. Next up getting electrical service, and then finishing the interior. At the current pace, I don't realistically expect to be moving before mid spring, probably late April or early May. Until that time, I will continue operating at the current location.

12/15/2022

Work is scheduled to start next Monday on putting up my new shop. (Located behind my house at 63rd & 135th) I'm told I'll have a dried in building and concrete floor by Christmas! Then, after the first of the New Year, I hoping to get the electric put in so I can start working on the interior. My plan is to have it ready to move into by spring of 2023.

Many of you have been asking about my future plans.

As I near my 40th! anniversary in the same location, I'm starting to work toward my evential semi-retirement. What that will mean is that I may not be available for as many hours a week, and I may decline doing some major repairs. Normal vehicle maintenance services should remain unaffected.

My plan to move the shop out to my residence has been on hold due to the high cost of materials during the pandemic. Now that costs have began to stabilize, I'm hoping to move forward on that project in the fall. I realize it may be an inconvenience for some, but after 40 years, I'm needing the change so I can spend more time with family.

Thanks everyone for your many years of patronage, and I hope I can continue to serve you in the future.
