Yesterday Tosh and I drove one of our main Bayhorse loops. This one goes over Ramshorn Mtn. We had cleared some of it and some parts we hadn’t. Happy to say we cut ZERO trees on the entire 55 mile route. Whoever worked on Pothole and the Keystone Mtn trail worked hard and did a great job. 👌

We went back today and finished clearing 8 Mile trail, this time from the Jordan Cr side. I figured there would be about 5 trees to cut, there were 43. Lol!

Did some trail clearing yesterday on 8 Mile Cr. From the Custer Motorway to Estes Mountain is about 8 miles (no relation to the trail name). The first 4 miles had been cleared by someone else (thank you). We cleared 3 miles. It took all afternoon to cut 140 trees. Four tanks of chainsaw gas, and three fills of bar oil. And we got turned around by snow! Crazy year!

I’m happy to report that both Trealor Cr trail and Kinnikinick Cr trail are OPEN! These two trails allow for a loop from the Sawmill Station to the Bayhorse lakes area. It took about 8 trail clearing sessions to complete the work, owing to there being more snow than anticipated (despite the dry winter) and the sheer number of trees down. Crazy stuff. Glad we got these two done.

This is at 7,700 ft. Taken 4/26/26. There is significantly less snow (actually almost none) compared with previous years. It is going to be an early trail year and our standard half day loop is open!

We will be closing our doors for the season on October 31st at 8pm.

We have really enjoyed another wonderful season with good friends and making new ones. We thank you all for your loyalty and friendship. Wishing you all a safe and beautiful holiday season and we will look forward to seeing you all next season, God willin’ and the crick don’t rise!

The fall colors this year are just starting to emerge and soon things will be looking like the trees in the picture. A great time to be in the mountains!

A little trail clearing activity on Squaw Creek Tr. A large tree fell from above the trail. Took a fair amount of effort to remove it. Then, a few days later, another almost identical tree fell in almost the same spot. The Lord has a sense of humor. We cut the trees out and did some dirt work to repair the trail bed. It’s in good shape. The creek crossing just after this section, however, is tricky. We plan to work on that but it might be a few days. At any rate, the trail officially opens tomorrow, July 1 and it is ready to be driven. Happy July 4th!!
