Grabbed this one right off the line. Aluminum dash mount for the L663 Defender.

It's built to the RAM Mount standard, so the base stays put and you swap in whatever RAM compatible phone holder you want. No drilling into the dash.

It also comes as a full kit with a MagSafe compatible holder for iPhone.

What's mounted in your Defender right now?

🚨 NEWS AT NOON 🚨
The first ever Range Rover Electric is officially here, and it's the most powerful Range Rover the brand has ever built.
Twin motors put out 542 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, more torque than any Range Rover in history. EPA-estimated range tops out at 333 miles, with 350kW DC fast charging on an 800V system. It comes in short and long wheelbase, across SE, Autobiography, SV, and SV Ultra trims, starting around $138,000 in the US. Order books are open now.
This isn't a lightweight EV. It's a full size luxury Rover built to still do Range Rover things off pavement. We'll see how that holds up once real owners get their hands on one.
Would you go electric in a Range Rover, or are you sticking with a V8 for now? Let us know in the comments.

Black Bear Pass at Night: Part 3
Justin took Project OCTA up Black Bear Pass at night on 35s. Nathaniel Biggs ran the same trail in a stock Defender on street tires.

Black Bear Pass is one of the toughest trails in Colorado. Narrow shelf road, loose shale, tight switchbacks, zero room for error. Doing it after dark raised the stakes even more.

Nathaniel is headed to the Defender Trophy Global Final in Africa this fall and wanted real seat time before he goes. Street tires on terrain like this are a real limitation, and we talked about it on camera. Line choice, tire pressure, and patience mattered more than horsepower once traction got thin.

🚨 AUCTION FIND 🚨
VIN: SALTY16443A776404

2003 Land Rover Discovery SE, Vienna Green over beige, 140,000 miles. Listed by a dealer in Redwood City, California.

πŸ”§ Specs
4.6L V8, 217 horsepower, 300 lb-ft of torque
4WD, 4-speed automatic transmission, 2-speed transfer case
140,000 miles
Clean California title

βœ… Highlights
Dealer acquired this Discovery in January 2021 and has only added about 2,000 miles since
18-inch Hurricane wheels, dual power sunroofs, leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control
Front bumper delete
An experienced Discovery II owner in the comments reports zero visible corrosion on the floors, sunroof drains, and frame, which is the most common failure point for this generation, and notes the engine sounds strong on a cold start

⚠️ Watch Outs
Known cosmetic flaws from the listing: chips, scratches, dings, faded paint, damaged bumpers, faded exterior trim, a cracked passenger taillight, dry-rotted tires, worn seats and steering wheel, and a sagging headliner
Carfax reports minor damage
The same experienced commenter flags that cosmetics, bumpers, the third brake lamp, and basic maintenance including tires will need attention
The listing header states one owner since 2003, but the Carfax summary in the listing body says this Discovery has had two owners since new in California. Worth confirming with the seller before bidding

🎯 Honest Take
This is a Discovery II with a mechanically and structurally sound reputation in the comments. Corrosion is the number one killer of this generation and this one reportedly has none. The cosmetic list is real, and the ownership history needs a clear answer, but the bones sound like a good place to start.

Project 69 Series II is running. It's just not happy about it.

Justin and Corbin are in the shop working through two options for the motor. Rebuild the original engine, or pull it and drop in a 200 Tdi.

A rebuild keeps the Series true to what it came with from the factory. A 200 Tdi swap brings a proven diesel platform with better long term parts support, which matters a lot when you're keeping something like this on the road for years.

Neither option is wrong. It comes down to what you're building this Rover to do.

Rebuild it or drop in a 200 Tdi? Which way would you go, and why?

🚨 NEWS AT NOON 🚨
JLR's CFO says the quiet part out loud: a US built Defender could share bones with a Jeep Wrangler.
πŸ‘€ Here's what we know:
πŸš™ The current Defender sells about 30,000 units a year stateside, built in Slovakia. JLR says that volume does not justify building the existing truck here.
πŸ† New Defender branded models are planned for segments JLR does not compete in yet.
πŸ’ͺ A formal agreement with Stellantis is expected to follow a preliminary deal already signed.
Reality check: tariffs are the real driver here. UK built Rovers face a 10 percent duty and EU built ones face 15 percent. Building in America fixes that math.
Reports from Automotive News say the new model could share a body on frame platform with the Jeep Wrangler. JLR has not confirmed that detail yet.
Purists, would you buy a Defender built on Jeep bones, or does that break the badge? Sound off below.

🚨 AUCTION FIND 🚨
VIN: SALSH23496A931362
Lot: 261060

2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Supercharged Launch Edition. One of 380 built for the model year, finished in Vesuvius Orange over Ebony leather.

πŸ”§ Specs
47k miles
Supercharged 4.2L V8, 390 hp / 410 lb-ft
ZF six-speed automatic
Full-time 4WD, dual-range transfer case, electronic center differential
Adjustable air suspension with Terrain Response
Brembo brakes, 20" Stormer wheels

βœ… Highlights
Remained with its original family, registered in California and Arizona before the selling dealer acquired it
One owner, clean Carfax, clean New Jersey title
Just fully serviced: oil and filter, transfer case fluid, front and rear diff fluid, brake fluid flush
Confirmed non-smoker
Seller says the headliner and visors are in great shape with no sagging, a common weak point on this generation

⚠️ Watch Outs
Dashboard shows cracks on the passenger side
Seller flagged a headliner pillar puller piece that may need attention, describing it as a common and inexpensive fix

🎯 Honest Take
Launch Edition L320s do not come up often, and this color combination makes this one stand out further. 47k documented miles, a clean title, and service work the seller just completed give it a strong foundation. The dash cracks and headliner note are worth checking in person, but they read as known, minor items rather than dealbreakers.

πŸ’¬ Would you run a Launch Edition in Vesuvius Orange, or is a more common color more your speed?
