What are YOU doing June 27th???

04/30/2026

Hi, Amy here!

I apologize for the length of this post…but today is my last day in the office, and it is certainly bittersweet.

First, I want to thank those of you I have seen and spoken with personally the last couple of weeks that have shared such kind words. I have so many different emotions and feelings.

I started my career here in 04/05. I was asked to come in “just for a few hours a week to help answer the phones” and then….well…..I never left.
In all honesty, this wasn’t my plan for what I thought I would be doing once Avery was in school full time, but life happens and this is how it ended up playing out. Then I blinked and here we are, 22 years later.

I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel wrong to me when people refer to “Amy & Phil” as the ones who have built the business and how “we have left big shoes to fill”, because in all reality Joe, Elaine & Phil are THE ONES who have built it and created those shoes long before I ever entered the picture. I was lucky enough to be able to learn the ropes from them and to help keep their legacy going after they retired when we purchased the business from them 8 years ago.
So to be clear, Without Joe & Elaine…..there would be no “Joe’s Family Car Care”.

That being said, I am extremely proud to have been able to be a part of such a well respected and successful business in our community.

I am grateful to have gotten to know so many of you. The ones I bonded with in the waiting room over personal conversations while you were waiting for your car. The ones we simply grew relationships with over the years. The generations of families, with kiddos that came in as teenagers that now have their own growing families! The list goes on and on.

As much as I am ready to step away from customer service - I AM going to miss so many of you with my WHOLE HEART! Some of you have truly become like family. We live in an amazing community made up of some pretty great people, ones I will never forget - that this business has brought us.

Thank you for putting your trust in us and thank you for being a part of our “Joe’s Family” for all of these years.

We hope you will give John and his crew a chance to show they are up for the challenge. We believe his intentions are to keep this place running with the same honesty and integrity it has been for the past 28 years. Those are the foundations of our success. It is only in his best interest to do so.

Please be kind AND patient as they navigate their first few months of transition!

Thank you all for being a part of my life story….Here’s to the next chapter!

🫶🏻Amy

Hello friends,
We have some exciting news to share.
About a year ago, Amy and I made the difficult decision to begin scaling back operations at the shop and explore the possibility of selling the business. Over that time, we spoke with several interested parties, but nothing felt quite right—until recently.

Over the past few months, we’ve been in discussions with a local business that shares the same values we’ve built Joe’s Family Car Care on for the past 28 years: quality, honesty, and integrity.

Many of you know that about six months ago, we sold our tow truck and began working closely with Pine Ridge Towing out of Sunapee, NH, also operating from Washington Street Mobil in Claremont. From day one, John Cassidy and his team have been outstanding partners—taking great care of our customers during stressful situations and helping us stay focused on what we do best: repairing vehicles and getting people safely back on the road.
Through this partnership, we built a strong relationship with John and saw firsthand his passion for helping people and running a business the right way. When the opportunity arose, it felt like a natural fit.
We’re happy to share that we have officially agreed to sell Joe’s Family Car Care to John effective May 1st, 2026.

The good news is—very little will change.
The business will be renamed John’s Family Car Care, but: Our team is staying the same, Our services and values remain the same, Our hours and phone number will stay the same, The quality care you’ve trusted for 28 years will continue

As for me, I’m not going anywhere—I’ll be staying on in the shop, doing what I love most: fixing cars.

Amy, however, will be stepping away. After many years of dedication to the business, she’s ready to shift her focus to some home and family priorities. It’s a bittersweet change, but one we feel very good about.
We truly believe John and his team are the right people to carry this business forward, and we’re excited for what’s ahead while preserving everything that’s made this place special.

Thank you all for your trust, loyalty, and support over the past 28 years—it means more than we can put into words.
—Phil

****Breaking News Vehicle Inspections Suspended According To NH AG

The New Hampshire Department of Justice and Department of Safety are providing a further update on the state’s vehicle inspection program in response to the federal District Court’s January 27, 2026 preliminary injunction order:

The vehicle inspection program is suspended until further notice.
Inspection stations will no longer be authorized to issue state inspection stickers and vehicles will not be required to obtain an annual state inspection at this time.

Drivers are still responsible under current law to ensure that any vehicle driven in New Hampshire is safe to operate, regardless of the status of the inspection program

Following the Executive Council’s denial of the Department of Safety’s request to extend the termination date of the State’s vehicle inspection contract with Gordon-Darby NHOST, Inc, the State currently has no approved vendor to operate the State’s vehicle inspection program. As a result, and after careful review of the legal implications under current state statutes of the lack of an approved vendor, the vehicle inspection program is suspended until further notice. Inspection stations will no longer be authorized to issue state inspection stickers and vehicles will not be required to obtain an annual state inspection at this time.

The Department of Safety and the Department of Environmental Services are exploring all options to continue to comply with the Court’s order but currently lack the legal authority to operate a vehicle inspection program given that there is no approved vendor for the program. In addition, the State is continuing to seek relief from the Court’s order and has filed a Notice of Appeal to the First Circuit Court of Appeals as well as a motion requesting that the Court stay its preliminary injunction order. While the vehicle inspection program is currently suspended, the status of the program remains subject to change as the legal landscape continues to evolve. The State will update its public guidance on vehicle inspections as more information becomes available and will provide additional regulatory flexibility as needed in the event of future changes, including further deadline extensions should the program resume.

At this time, the public is reminded that they are responsible under current law to ensure that any vehicle driven in New Hampshire is safe to operate, regardless of the status of the inspection program. Vehicle safety requirements are set forth in New Hampshire Revised Statutes Annotated (RSA) Chapter 266.

We don’t have any official information from the state. All we can do right now is share with you what we are seeing. We are trying to get information from the state. You would think that because we are an inspection station, licensed by the state, they would give us official information so we can give guidance to our customers… I guess we think wrong.

Vehicle inspections in New Hampshire will continue for now after a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction preventing a law that would halt inspections from taking effect.
