Did you know your everyday driving habits could be quietly draining your gas tank — and your wallet?
With gas prices well above $4 a gallon, WCPO’s Don’t Waste your Money (tag: https://hubs.la/Q04hF_680) team turned to our own Candice Morley, Director of Client Products at Mike Albert, to share what fleet management professionals already know: small behavior changes behind the wheel can reduce fuel costs by 10–30%.
At Mike Albert, this isn't just advice. It's what we do every day. Fleet managers use telematics technology and driver coaching tools to track and reduce exactly these behaviors in real time: harsh acceleration, hard braking, excessive idling, and improper tire pressure. We share that expertise with the businesses we serve — and now, Candice brought that same knowledge to everyday drivers.
Candice joined the WCPO consumer team for a real-world driving demonstration to put these tips to the test — and the results speak for themselves.
Key takeaways from the segment:
✅ Accelerate gently — no jackrabbit starts
✅ Maintain safe following distance to avoid hard braking
✅ Turn off your engine if idling more than one minute
✅ Check and maintain proper tire pressure
