Formerly managed by the Director of the Moody Gallery (UA). The Moore’s Customz Philosophy: Art Without Borders
At Moore’s Customz, we believe a canvas is anything with a surface. My journey started at 12 years old, rooted in the discipline of Fine Art and the precision of Tattooing.
About 15 years ago, I brought those worlds together when I moved back to Ohio and transitioned fully into the airbrush. Today, that lifetime of experience is what fuels every project that rolls through our doors—from Automotive and Motorcycles to Firearms and Large-scale Murals.
Why we focus on the process:
Precision Background: The steady hand required for tattooing is the same hand that ensures your "glass-like shine" is flawless.
Fine Art Vision: We don't just paint parts; we create compositions. Every hand-sketched layout is designed to flow with the specific lines of the machine.
Legacy in Motion: I’m now passing these decades of cross-industry secrets to my son, who has been apprenticing under the "Moore Standard" since he was 12.
We aren't the loudest shop in the room, but we are the most dedicated to the craft. If you want art that carries a lifetime of history, you’re in the right place.

Folks always ask how you make a flat surface look like it’s ripping apart. There are no stencils and no tape here—it's just about letting the paint find its own way by putting the shadows in the right spots.
Tricking the human brain into believing something is there when it isn't comes down to how you stack your highlights and lowlights. Just mapping out the depth on this pro football helmet layout this morning.

Working with custom fabric is a completely different beast than laying paint over metal. If you had to compare them to engines, cotton is a lot like a classic V8—it takes a whole lot more fuel to make the colors really pop.
Getting the air-to-paint mixture dialed in correctly is everything. Too much air on the airbrush and the tip dries right up; too little air and the paint won't even come out. It’s all about finding that perfect balance so the design stays clean without soaking through.
Big thank you to Oliver Welding all the way from South Alabama for trusting a small shop with this custom project.

When an AI concept photo lands on the workbench, it makes you question how—and why—you’re going to tackle it. Stencils and tape confine you to a fixed space, which completely flattens out the fluid look of a waving flag. Going completely freehand is a different challenge, but it lets the design find its own way across the curves of the metal.
From mapping out the raw shadows during the "ugly stage" to watching the final clear coat flatten out like glass, every step was about tricking the eye into seeing real depth on a completely flat surface.
This build was an honor to execute for our veterans, first responders, and the kids at Shriners. If you want to see it out in the wild, the finished bike will be on display and raffled off August 27th–30th at the Thunder on the River rally in Ironton, Ohio.

Packing up the guns and letting the paint find its own way down south. Moore's Customz is officially relocating to Houston, Texas in August.
Just a straightforward, single-owner shop incredibly grateful for every single person who has supported the work from day one. This isn't a goodbye, it's just a hello to the next lane. Texas, see you soon.

The web of illusions

Mapping out a true 3D look on a heavily rounded surface is all about building layers. It’s what you call an illusion within an illusion.
First, the foundation of the spider web has to be laid out carefully so the lines don't wrap or distort around the curves of the surface. Once that's locked down, the real trick comes down to tracking the drop shadows from a single light source to trick the human eye into believing the spider is actually hovering and crawling right off the top layer.
No stencils, no tape, just letting the paint find its own way. This one is a matching lid for the spider bike giveaway at Thunder on the River this August.

custom bike deserves a custom leather. Colors run deep in the biker community, and riders wear their cuts proud—this bike wears its cut proud, too.

The Folds of Honor and Shriners build is officially 100% assembled and ready for Thunder On The River. This bike is being given away at the rally in Ironton, Ohio, running from August 27th through the 30th. Every single dime raised from this project goes straight to Folds of Honor and the Shriners to support our veterans and kids.

A massive thank you to Showtime Upholstery for knocking this custom leatherwork completely out of the park and giving this machine the perfect finish.

Dropping this final look just in time to wish everyone a very Happy 250th Fourth of July.
Have a safe and blessed holiday weekend, everyone.

Folks always ask if I have the whole design mapped out in my head before the airbrush hits the metal. Truth is, I just like to let the paint find its own way.

When you're bringing a piece like this tiger to life, the eyes are everything. If you don't capture that depth perfectly to where they follow you as you walk around the vehicle, you lose the whole illusion. We don't pre-draw or tape it down to a grid—just spray and go.

Thanks for hanging out in the feed tonight.

First round of clear coat going down on these mini helmets. There is nothing like watching that deep pearl purple and silver pop once the shine stage hits.
The most important part of a build like this is protecting the history. We wrapped out the authentic Adrian Peterson and Tony Dorsett signatures carefully, making sure that real ink is locked safe under a mirror reflection forever. Just letting the paint find its own way.
Thank you all for hanging out in the feed today.

The shine stage will leave you smiling ear to ear if you do it right... but do it wrong, and it’ll leave a grown man crying. Keeping the buffer moving and letting the transition happen naturally. Proud to have my son Steve locking down the details in the shop.
