Hello To All,
I hope this message finds you well. For those of you in school or with kids in school, we hope the academic year is off to a good start. While the last six months have been challenging for Silver Dollar BMX, we finally have some GREAT news to share.
Some of you may have noticed equipment and work occurring at our track site. Franklin Construction of Chico, CA, was out there getting things prepped for our new track. While this is super exciting news and we would have loved to share it when it started, what we could say about the work being done was limited due to some administrative issues surrounding permitting.
We successfully resolved the administrative issues, and I'm thrilled to announce that the grading for our new track facility is now COMPLETE! I’ve attached some pictures. The site is starting to resemble a real BMX track!
The next step is to purchase and install the underground infrastructure (drainage, electrical conduit, and water lines). A list of materials needed to complete that portion of the project, as well as cost estimates for those materials, is included as a photo in this post. If you or someone you know would like to donate the needed materials or funds that would allow us to purchase the materials or are willing to install them, please connect them with a board member to facilitate that. Silver Dollar BMX is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all materials, equipment, money, or in-kind labor donations are tax-deductible.
The environmental mitigation permit for our work this year expires on October 15th, so we will need to shut down our work on the site by then. We will be able to resume in April.
I've attached a list of necesssary materials with price estimates for the next phase of the project starting with the drainage. The item highlighted in green is material we already have for the project. Everything else on the list is still needed. We have the exact specifications for the drain boxes if anyone needs them.
To be clear, none of these price estimates include the cost of installation of the materials. As it looks like most/all of the installation will have to occur next spring, we will also need some erosion fencing and grass seed to establish erosion control along the creek that borders our project.
Silver Dollar BMX appreciates all support from the community as we work toward completing this project. We’d like to extend a special thanks to Oak Ridge Cabinets, Franklin Construction, and a number of other small businesses that have supported our efforts to this point. Getting this far has been a long, hard road, but we’re excited to see some progress.
As always, if anyone has any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at (530) 520-2014 or e-mail me at [email protected].
With Gratitude,
Phil Wysocki, Track Operator
