Chicago Winter Was Hard on Your Vehicle

Repeated cold starts, road salt, and harsh weather often lead to wear on key components like your battery, starter, sensors, and braking system. As temperatures begin to rise, these issues can surface when you least expect them.

Key points to watch out for in your vehicles:

- Cold weather strains batteries and starters, leading to failures as temperatures change
- Road salt can accelerate corrosion on brakes, lines, and electrical connections
- Sensors and electronics may develop faults after prolonged exposure to moisture and temperature swings
- A/C systems often go unused in winter and may require service before summer demand

Prepare your vehicle for the warmer months with us. Stop by the shop anytime for your repairs or inspections. Our goal is to keep your vehicle reliable, safe, and comfortable year-round. Let us help you address winter-related wear and prepare your car for the demands of summer driving.

Let us introduce our latest in-house project at RDS AUTO SERVICE! Full engine swap on a 1988 Mazda RX-7 FC, replacing its original rotary with a Lexus 1UZ-FE 4.0L V8 sourced from an SC400.

Why the 1UZ-FE? Known for its all-aluminum block, DOHC design, and bulletproof reliability, this 6-bolt main V8 delivers smooth, usable power and a strong aftermarket following. The challenge lies in integrating this engine into a chassis originally designed around a lightweight rotary.

This means custom motor mounts, wiring harness modifications, ECU integration, driveshaft work, and exhaust fabrication, all performed in-house.

This project showcases our ability to handle complex fabrication, electrical, and mechanical work, skills that translate directly into confidence for our customers.

Whether you’re seeking a unique swap, performance upgrades, or regular maintenance, we have the knowledge, tools, and passion to bring your vision to life.
