Ripped the valve stem clean out of a 4mm super heavy duty Motoz tube…Lesson learned…riding a big ass adventure bike like it’s a sport bike…not advisable. Engine braking from a lot to a little on tarmac into a little to a whole lot on gravel spun the rim in the tire, taking out the stem.

Just bought a Thruxton. Put 250 miles of sweet sweet SW MI roads on the wheels, pulled the throttle out of a curve and the right spark plug popped out of the head. Both sides need new threads

TMB’s first project, got this car in 1986…baby me parked this thing in a barn about 1992, I had a GTI and lived in the city. Never planned on leaving it there for 33 years. Boxed in by machinery and here we are. First time it’s seen daylight since. Bio Hazard cleaning took 16hrs. Yanking the seats out, shampooing, steaming, scrubbing, ozone bombs, no less than 250 walnuts vac’d out of this land yacht.

Tusk is the Harbor Freight of moto aftermarket. That’s not entirely bad. What it generally means is they make “ok” items. Some have a fair amount of improvement possibilities. Like, their universal pannier mount and Olympus bags. I was looking for an economical soft option for my ATAS that came with Touratech racks. The Tusk universal mount plate has two fatal flaws...no way to easily remove the bags from the bike, and no way to positively lock them to the bike. Solution…invert the plate, buy a locking clamp from Giant Loop, re-drill the plexi insert in the olympus bags, bolt the bag to the plate, line up the hooks and clamp…some washers needed, use the velcro strap that came with the bags as extra security. You now have a positive locking, won’t fly off, easily removable, secure, no stupid strap over the seat way to mount your soft luggage.
