Myth vs. Reality: "Diesel engines need to idle to warm up." 🚚

While that was once true, modern diesel engines actually warm up much more efficiently under light driving conditions than prolonged idling.

In fact, daily, extended standard idling can accelerate engine wear, thin out your motor oil through fuel dilution, and clog DPF and EGR systems.

If idling is unavoidable in your day-to-day operations, make sure you're using high idle (900–1,200 RPM) to keep combustion temperatures stable and minimize deposits. More importantly, switch to an oil engineered to withstand these exact conditions—like Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 Full Synthetic.
