Anthony "Tony" J. Izzo, Sr. Obituary
Anthony "Tony" Izzo Sr., affectionately known throughout the Chicagoland stock car racing community as "Shaggy" #66, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026.
Tony was the retired CEO of Kerry's Autobody, where he earned a reputation for integrity, hard work, and dedication. Outside of his career, he was a familiar face at race tracks across the Midwest. A lifelong stock car racing enthusiast, Tony's sportsmanship, determination, and passion for the sport earned him the admiration of fellow racers and fans alike. In recognition of his accomplishments and contributions to racing, he was inducted into the Illinois Stock Car Hall of Fame on April 8, 2017.
Above all, Tony treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved life partner, Helen Goldner; his loving children, Dan (Trish) Izzo, Tony Izzo Jr., Joey (Nicole) Izzo, and Kerrianne (Rocky) Izzo; his cherished grandchildren, Aryanna Izzo, Franklin Izzo, Martin Izzo, and Penny Izzo; his brothers, Gilbert Izzo Sr., Richard Izzo, and Bruce Izzo; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol, and his brother, Alan.
Tony will be remembered for his strength, generosity, loyalty, and quiet determination. Whether at the race track, at work, or with family and friends, he touched countless lives with his kindness, sense of humor, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the friendships he cherished, and the many lives he influenced both on and off the race track. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Private funeral services will be held at St. Casimir Cemetery Chapel, followed by interment at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tony's memory to a dialysis-related charity of the donor's choice.
A special memorial race celebrating Tony's life will be held at LaSalle Speedway at a future date. Details will be announced as they become available.
