Groundings 2026 — Chicago's EUC Community, on the National Map
It's Electric Chicago didn't just open a repair shop. It opened the same year Groundings was founded — 2022 — a group ride event started by core EUC riders from Chicago and Washington DC who wanted something that didn't exist yet: a real gathering built around electric unicycle culture.
2026 marks the fourth year of Groundings. What started as a regional idea has grown into something riders plan their summers around. This year, people are coming in from New York, Florida, Washington DC, Indiana, and Detroit — flying and driving into Chicago for a full weekend of riding throughout Chicagoland.
That's the weight of it: Chicago has become a destination for EUC riders across the country. Not because of a corporate sponsor or a paid promotion. Because the community built it.
It's Electric Chicago is embedded in that community. Groundings isn't an event the shop attends — it's part of what the shop was built around. The same riders who show up every year are the same riders Luis started this business to serve. The event and the shop share a founding year, a founding city, and a founding belief: that personal electric vehicle (PEV) riders deserve real support, real expertise, and a community that treats the craft seriously.
When riders from across the country come to Chicago for a weekend, It's Electric Chicago is already part of the reason this city is worth showing up for.
