Earlier this week, thanks to an unnamed, incredibly forgetful student who left the classroom door wide open, Hartley executed a daring, unsanctioned escape into the wild unknown.
What followed was a brief, chaotic saga consisting of:
1. Hartley taking a stroll in the driveway.
2. Mom having a full-blown, year-subtracting panic attack.
3. Hartley being recaptured and brought back to safety.
You’d think he’d be relieved to be back in the warmth, but no. The taste of freedom, however brief, has forever changed him. Hartley now stands at the front door screaming at the top of his lungs like a medieval prisoner demanding justice.
The only known remedy? We have had to place a chair directly in front of the door so he can sit, stare dramatically out the glass, and plot his return to the wild.
Please keep our family in your thoughts during this difficult time. Hartley’s body is indoors, but his soul is out there in the front yard.
