“I’ll never buy another colored hull” - Client. It doesn’t have to be that way. Gelcoat condition is all about proper maintenance.
The last Detailer that worked on this boat didn’t sand deep enough to remove the underlying oxidation to fix the root of the problem, then the problem came back within weeks. We performed a 7 step correction and leveled the surface down to a fine polish, then protected the gelcoat with a Si02 sealant.
I sat down with the client and provided a maintenance plan including the right PH neutral soaps, in-season sealant application next year, and a 2 year guarantee of oxidation prevention if we followed that plan.
Don’t neglect your boat, and it will stay showroom ready.
