One year of Scenic City Auto Spa.

This time last year, we were building out a detailing van and stepping into a new chapter after my wife’s physical therapy practice didn’t go the way we had planned.

I’ve been detailing for close to five years, but this business has grown beyond anything I expected in its first year.

One mindset I’ve always tried to live by is to fail forward. Things aren’t always going to work out the way we planned, but failure doesn’t have to be wasted.

And as believers, failure isn’t what defines us.

Sometimes God closes a door, redirects the plan, and brings beauty from the ashes in ways we couldn’t see at the time. Our responsibility is to keep the faith, keep working, keep learning, and keep moving forward.

Looking back at this first year, I’m simply grateful. Grateful for God’s provision, grateful for the opportunity to provide for my family through something I genuinely love doing, and grateful for every client who has trusted and supported Scenic City Auto Spa.

Believe. Dream. Grind. Repeat.

Fail forward. Keep the faith. Trust God with the outcome.

Year one is almost in the books, and we’re excited to see what year two brings.

What’s the difference between cleaning a vehicle and restoring one?

Cleaning is maintenance. Your vehicle is already in decent condition and needs routine care to keep it that way.

Restoration is different.

Your fur baby has spent 20 of the last 40 days riding sh***un, shedding everywhere, and somehow managed to spill their pup cup from Star-Yucks all over the interior?

Restoration.

Pet stains, heavy contamination, embedded hair, odors, mold remediation, or years of neglected interior buildup?

Restoration.

Your paint is oxidized, faded, and covered in swirls after years of trips through the automatic barbed-wire wash?

That isn’t fixed with a wash and wax. It requires proper polishing or paint correction to safely restore as much of the finish as possible.

There’s a big difference between maintaining something that’s already clean and reversing months or years of wear, contamination, and neglect.

That’s also why restoration services require more time, specialized processes, and a larger investment than a basic cleaning.

Know what your vehicle actually needs. Then choose the service designed to accomplish it.

And maybe keep the pup cup in the cupholder next time.

Simple. Clients who value what we offer.

Not just a clean vehicle, but the quality of the work, attention to detail, education, communication, professionalism, and overall experience that comes with it.

We understand we’re not going to be the right fit for everyone, and that’s okay. If price is the only deciding factor, there will always be someone cheaper.

How long does a ceramic coating actually last?

12 months? 3 years? 5 years? A lifetime?

The answer depends on the coating, the installation process, how the vehicle is used, and, most importantly, how it’s maintained.

A properly installed ceramic coating can provide years of protection, but longevity claims aren’t guarantees. Even the most expensive coatings require regular washing, proper maintenance, and occasional inspections to perform as intended.

And those lifetime coatings? Lifetime doesn’t mean maintenance-free or permanent protection.

At Scenic City Auto Spa, we believe in educating our clients, setting realistic expectations, and providing professional installation and ongoing maintenance to help maximize their investment.

A ceramic coating is only one piece of the puzzle. Proper maintenance is what helps preserve that protection for years to come.

How much paint correction does your vehicle actually need before a ceramic coating?

It starts with expectations.

Perfect paint is a fallacy. Chasing every single defect can require removing unnecessary clear coat, adding significant cost, and on a daily-driven vehicle, many of those defects will eventually return through normal use.

That’s why we don’t automatically recommend a two-step or multi-step correction before every coating.

We inspect the paint, talk with the client about their expectations, consider how the vehicle is actually used, and determine the level of correction that makes sense.

For many daily drivers, a properly performed enhancement polish can dramatically improve gloss and clarity while adequately preparing the paint for the coating. Other vehicles and client goals may justify more extensive correction.

The goal isn’t to sell you the most paint correction possible.

It’s to deliver the right amount of correction for your vehicle, your expectations, and your investment.
