Paterek Brothers Inc.

Paterek Brothers Inc. Restoration of vintage sports cars Paterek Brothers Incorporated began in 1977 as the combination of John and Ray’s automotive talents.

The first attempt at classic auto restoration goes back to 1969 on Ray’s 1933 Chevrolet Master Sedan, which Ray still owns. After working for five years at the famed Gassaway Auto Restorations the brothers perfected their talents on Duesenberg’s, Packard’s, and Auburns. These Auto’s were restored to 100-point concours level, John involved with the paint and metal fabrication, Ray with the upholste

ry and assembly. The Porsche bug bit in 1970 when John bought his 1966 Porsche 912. When John refinished his faded Irish Green Coupe to Duesenberg standards, fellow Porsche Club of America Members took note. The Brothers have been located in the same shop since 1978. The focus is full restoration of Porsche in particular early 356 body types and other unique sports cars. The other service they provide the to stabilize and preserve original automobiles. This provides other restorers a chance to see how the car was actually manufactured. Along with many Porsche Club of America and 356 Registry wins, other winning events include; Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance, The LouisVuitton Classic, Grenwich Concours D’Elegance, Meadbrook Concours D’Elegance and Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance. John has been a featured speaker at over 30 Porsche Parades, Zone 1 Tech Tactics for 30 years and this will be his 36th annual tech session John and Ray will host at the Commerce Street shop, which occurs every Spring.

Do you ever wonder how and why a business starts? John and Ray were working at a business that restored classic cars. Many of the Duesenbergs and Auburns won many awards. Mr. Schneider taught John how to do metal work, and Jim Krauss taught Ray how to do upholstery. At the same time, NNJR members Doug Troyer and Ralph Stosser encouraged them to start their own business. Doug found them a business in Chatham, and 49 years later, they are still there. Andrew, John's son, actually started working at the age of 15, sanding, and after he graduated from the School of Visual Arts, started full-time.
