The Rivanna River Company was founded in 2015 as Charlottesville’s first paddlesports outfitting service. We started the company to share our love of playing in the outdoors and to help connect Charlottesville with its beautiful river. We are dedicated to making adventures on the water inviting and accessible to people from all backgrounds. We offer rental equipment, shuttle service, guided trips,

and skills instruction for canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. As we grow, we plan too add summer day camps, overnight river trips, outdoors skills clinics, and environmental education programs to our offerings. Our vision is a healthy Rivanna River enjoyed, embraced and valued by the people of Charlottesville.

With school starting up and summer winding down, we want to give a massive shout out to our camp partners Virginia Outside | Charlottesville !!!

Mitch and his staff put together an entire summer of excellent camp programs, week after week! For anyone familiar with the summer camp grind, this is no small feat 💪💪💪 Congrats you all and thanks for spreading the love of fishing, rivers, and the great outdoors to the next generation 🙌🙌🙌

🪕 Award-winning guitarist and songwriter Larry Keel brings his innovative blend of bluegrass, classic country, rock, and improvisational jazz to Rivanna Roots on Saturday, September 19! Joined by mandolinist and guitarist Winston Mitchell, the Larry Keel Duo brings an intimate, high-energy acoustic experience to the stage. Opening the evening is Brennan Gilmore & Andy Thacker, blending Appalachian traditions with jazz, rock, and global influences.

Drawing from Appalachian bluegrass and classic country while pushing into rock and jazz, the duo creates a relaxed, energetic experience that feels like being backstage while musicians run through tunes and take musical risks.

and bring their own blend of Appalachian tradition and musical exploration. Gilmore’s work spans Appalachia, Africa, and the Arab world, while Thacker of Love Canon is equally at home in Bluegrass, Old Time, Jazz, and Rock. Together, they’ll perform original compositions and Appalachian favorites.

Thursday Evening sauna sessions will continue through August! You all have consistently signed up this summer to partake in our warm weather sauna experiment….thank you thank you thank you! From the bottom of our hearts 🤗 we love developing, tweaking , and growing this side of the business and we wouldn’t be able to do that without all you lovely people. You offer feedback and inspiration, both of which we are very grateful for.

Just a reminder that you can sign up for these sessions via a link in our bio, or on our website. These sessions include ice baths and our hosts aim for a lesser 160 temp in the hot room.

As of right now saunas won’t be operating in September and October; we use that time to prepare for the winter season and for staff respite 🙌

The smoke does make for a pretty sunrise over the swamp rose mallow blooming in the wildflower meadow :)
