Due to the extreme drought conditions, we have to pause downriver paddling and tubing trips beginning 6/7/26 (until we receive significant rainfall).
Your experience on the water is of utmost importance to us, and we feel the river is now too shallow to provide everyone with a fun paddling or tubing adventure. We will resume downriver trips if we get appreciable rain....check back here for updates!
We are still open for Out and Back Paddling, Tube Rentals (Float and Walk the Rivanna Trail), and SUP, Kayak, and Canoe rentals for other destinations. Here are the options:
1. The Rivanna Out & Back includes a kayak, canoe, or SUP, life jacket and paddle rental for 2 hours to explore the calm waters of the Rivanna near the RRC shop. RRC provides the equipment at the river and will orient you to the area. You can paddle downriver 1/3 of a mile and upriver 1/2 mile. A pleasant beach for wading, swimming, playing, and picnicking is the destination downriver. This is a great way to get on the river in the summer and explore a new activity. Offered daily from 9:30 am to 3:15 pm.
2. Rent a Tube for a lazy float down the river as far as you like, and then simply walk back on the Rivanna Trail (paved, level, mostly shaded). The river is still a super fun play spot and enjoyable in a tube as long as you aren’t trying to get anywhere fast.
3. Our Daily Boat and Equipment Rental option allows you to transport kayaks, canoes, or SUPs to a lake or reservoir (see https://rivannarivercompany.com/local-paddling-destinations for recommendations). Our staff can help you learn how to transport equipment. Our inflatable standup paddle boards are particularly easy to move with any vehicle.
4. Stop by our shop for popsicles, cold drinks, gift shopping, and hanging out at our sweet riverfront location.
5. Come enjoy the Rivanna Roots Series Concert Series!
6. Try out Riversong Saunas Summer Series...Cold Plunge, Sauna, & Community each Thursday evening.
