Carter Myers Automotive CMA is a family & employee-owned business serving Virginia since 1924. CMA started as Stockdell-Myers Hardware in Petersburg, Virginia.

We specialized in machine parts and built cars from kits to sell through the store. In 1924, once the assembly line had changed the industry, we reincorporated as Petersburg Motor Company. Our first President was H. Carter Myers and our first car brand was Ford. Today, the 4th generation of the Myers family is our President and CEO. randfather's footsteps. CMA now has 20 locations selling 18 franchises and thousands of new and used vehicles in stock. We serve all of Virginia with locations in Charlottesville, Staunton, Wi******er, Williamsburg, and the Richmond market, and the greater Martinsburg, WV area. CMA is also employee-owned. Our associates earn ownership in our company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Fairly unique in our industry, our ESOP has grown through the belief that shared ownership means shared success. Our tagline is "Owners Just Do More!"

Associate Owners are all cheering for Adam Schmahl this morning!

Adam is a Technician Apprentice from CMA’s Colonial Kia and today he also represents the Commonwealth of Virginia by competing in the Skills USA 2026 NLSC (National Leadership & Skills Competition)!

Adam will face off against high school students from across the US & 3 territories in the Automotive Service Technology Competition.

The journey here has not been swift- winning the local & region contests by standing out not only in technical skills, but also mastering leadership and interview skills!

Congratulations Adam on this amazing achievement! CMA is PROUD to have you representing us on the National Stage!

Celebrating Adam Schmahl, the 2026 Automotive Technology representative for the Commonwealth of Virginia!

Adam is currently a CMA Technician Apprentice at CMA's Colonial Kia.

This past Friday, Adam was honored by the Skills USA-VA Foundation Board - receiving a $1000 scholarship to support his upcoming competition at the Skills USA National Conference!

CMA's Valley Dealerships hosted 21 Auto Technology students along with their instructor Shawn Duncan for an Experience Day - CMA Style!

Students were welcomed at CMA's Valley Subaru for a quick breakfast of doughnuts and an agenda review for the day.

Breaking into groups, our Service Managers, Rob Migliaccio, Carmen Hinton, John Lindstrom, Zach Hackett and Joe Pampinella led the students for a full dealership tour - highlighting career paths in each department.

When the tour groups reached the shops, they were assigned host technicians for the day and got to work! CMA's Certified Technicians shared experience, laughs and answered questions while working alongside the future tech generation.

We wrapped the day with a Chick Fil A lunch and a great recap of the day's events!
