Jockey Jorge Ruiz had three big wins this afternoon at Colonial Downs including the third one aboard Arnaud Delacour’s Creed’s Vision! The 4-year-old Jimmy Creed mare is owned by West Point Thoroughbreds, Michael Lyden & CJ Stables. Dawn Lenert from the West Point group is pictured with Jorge. Creed’s Vision has 10 top-three finishes from 11 starts. Today’s win was in a $72,000 featured turf allowance.

Congratulations to Virginia-certified 3-year-old gelding Fayes Heart who was best after a photo in today’s $43,125 6-furlong dirt race at Colonial Downs! The John Robb trainee was ridden by Xavier Perez and is owned/bred by No Guts No Glory Farm. The son of Irish War Cry won his third career race and his first in Virginia-restricted company. The winner spent his Virginia residency at DawLyn Horses, LLC. Alberto Delgado’s In Honor of Jeff finished second. What a weekend at Colonial Downs for Ashland-based trainer Karen Dennehy who had a pair of wins and a second-place finish! Her 4-year-old Virginia-bred filly Set Ablaze kicked off the run by capturing Saturday's $43,125 Virginia-restricted turf allowance. Believe it or not, five of the top six finishers in the race were broke at Karen's Eagle Point Farm. Later in the card her Virginia-bred Chickahominy finished second in the $125,000 Glenn Petty Stakes, less than a length behind the winner, Noquestionaboutit. The 7-year-old Great Notion mare picked up her ninth career top-three finish and pushed her bankroll to $214,885. Clearly Sophia capped off the weekend by winning Sunday's last race on the card -- a $87,000 Virginia-restricted maiden special weight. Jockey Pao Lopez led the winning effort for owners On Your Left Racing. What a weekend in New Kent!

Congratulations to Michael Trombetta’s Virginia-certified c**t Pont Aven, winner of today’s $125,000 Star De Naskra Stakes at Colonial Downs! The 3-year-old son of Bluefield engaged with runner-up Close the Gate in a thrilling neck-and-neck stretch run. Jockey Mychel Sanchez led the winning effort for ownership group, Day At The Races. The stakes was contested at 7 furlongs on dirt.

Congratulations to David Ross's 3-year-old gelding Reckless who captured Friday's second race --- a $35,000 turf claimer --- at Rosie's Gaming and Colonial Downs ! The son of Maxfield won his second career race and had leading jockey Paco Lopez up, who recorded his 16th win of the meet. The Michael Stidham was claimed out of the race (Coady Media action photo).

Today's (Saturday's) 10-race card kicks off at 12:30 PM and features a four-pack of $125,000 stakes races and an appearance by Virginia star athletes Ralph Sampson & Gary Clark.

Congratulations to Virginia-bred Gramp's Legacy who won Thursday's $90,000 allowance feature at Colonial Downs! The 3-year-old Funtastic gelding was ridden by Johan Rosado and is trained by Jeremiah O'Dwyer. The winner, who was foaled at Willow Hill Equestrian, is owned/bred by Tyler Sliney. The Virginia-restricted race was contested at one mile on the outer turf (Coady Media photo).

Colonial Downs’ leading all time trainer Ferris Allen was back in the New Kent track’s winners circle this afternoon when his 7-year-old Uncle Mo gelding Be Better came on strong to capture the fourth race dirt miler! Leading jockey Paco Lopez led the winning effort in pushing Be Better’s career bankroll past the $385,000 mark for owner, SpergerWay Stables.

Congratulations to Virginia-certified 3-year-old gelding Flying to Work who got his first lifetime win in a $40,000 maiden claiming turf sprint today at Colonial Downs! The son of Holy Boss was ridden to victory by leading jockey Paco Lopez and picked up his 8th top-three finish. The winner spent his 6-month Virginia residency at Amy Moore’s South Gate Farm. He is owned by Gabriella Wilhelm and is trained by Rodolfo Sanchez-Solomon. Another Virginia-restricted is on the card today as Race 7 (Coady Media action photo).
