A broken wire you can’t see can still stop the whole circuit. ⚡
In this real-world diagnosis, David Merendino uses the ECT3000 Short & Open Finder to investigate a check engine light related to the lower air shutter circuit.

The harness showed signs of being pinched, and one section looked suspicious. The insulation was still intact, but the wire itself had actually broken inside.
Instead of assuming the rest of the harness was good, David connected the ECT3000 and traced the signal through the circuit.

By locking the signal, adjusting sensitivity, and following the harness, he was able to:
⚡ Confirm the initial broken wire
⚡ Check other suspicious sections without opening the harness
⚡ Verify continuity farther up the circuit

Finding a broken wire shouldn’t mean tearing the vehicle apart.
In this demo, David Barden shows how the ECT3000 Short & Open Finder can quickly trace wiring faults through panels, carpet, and hidden harnesses.

The system uses two parts:
⚡ A transmitter that injects a signal into the problem circuit
⚡ A receiver that follows that signal through the vehicle

For an open circuit, you simply track the signal until it disappears — giving you a strong indication of where the break is located.
For shorts, the receiver can also help indicate the direction of the fault.
One key step: use the Sensitivity Lock to stabilize the signal before tracing the circuit.
When wiring problems are buried deep inside a vehicle, the ECT3000 can turn hours of searching into a much faster, more targeted diagnosis.

When the scan tool reports “no signal,” the fault is not always the sensor.
In this diagnostic walkthrough, investigates an A/C problem on a 2016 Audi A4 using the Power Probe ECT3000 Open/Short Finder.

The A/C would not engage, the indicator light flashed and switched off, and fault codes for the humidity and high-pressure sensors both showed no signal. After confirming the sensors were functioning correctly, attention turned to the wiring.

By isolating the circuit and tracing the signal through the harness with the ECT3000, the fault was narrowed down to a small internal wire break that was impossible to see from the outside.
One targeted repair restored the circuit—and brought the cold air back.
A great example of how accurate circuit tracing can prevent unnecessary parts replacement and turn a difficult electrical fault into a confirmed repair.
