Hendrick Marrow Program

Hendrick Marrow Program Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, established the Hendrick Marrow Program in 1997 after he was diagnosed with leukemia.

Even though he did not need a marrow transplant himself, he wanted to help other patients waiting to find a marrow match and a second chance at life. The Hendrick Marrow Program works with Be The Match® to help raise money to support patients in need of a marrow transplant. Through the Hendrick Family Fund for Patient Assistance, grants are offered to patients undergoing marrow or cord blood trans

plants to help offset uninsured transplant related expenses such as prescription co-pays or lodging costs at the transplant center. It also raises money to add more potential marrow donors to the Be The Match Registry® increasing the chances that more patients can find their match and be cured. Since its inception, the Hendrick Marrow Program has been an integral part of the fundraising success of Be The Match. To date more than $13 million dollars has been raised through this program. Additionally, Rick Hendrick was a pioneer in the area of patient assistance by establishing the Hendrick Marrow Program’s patient assistance program in 2001. Since that time, Be The Match has adopted this successful program and expanded it to serve even more transplant patients. The Hendrick Marrow Program and Be The Match are dedicated to creating the opportunity for all patients to receive the life-saving marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant they need.
