🛻 Truck bed detailing is one of the most overlooked services for Charlotte NC truck owners, and one of the most impactful for long-term condition. Truck beds take constant abuse, scratches from cargo, rust from standing water, grime from hauling, and UV degradation on unprotected liner surfaces. Most people just hose them out. Here's what a proper truck bed detail looks like.

For plastic bed liners we use a degreaser and stiff brush to break up embedded grime, rinse thoroughly, then apply a UV-protective dressing to prevent the chalky fading and cracking that develops on neglected plastic in the Carolina sun. ⚙️ For professionally installed rubber liners like the one on this Jeep Gladiator, the cleaning process is significantly easier. A sponge wash with the right cleaner and a rinse is usually all it takes since the rubber surface doesn't absorb contamination the way bare plastic or metal does. For bare metal beds, a metal protectant goes on immediately after cleaning before oxidation can begin again.

🛻 2021 Jeep Gladiator in Rock Hill SC, full enthusiast detail. Premium package exterior, interior, and engine bay all done in one appointment. The before and after on this one speaks for itself.

Exterior got the full decontamination treatment, foam pre-wash, iron removal, clay bar, hand wash with our multi-sponge method, and a paint sealant to finish. The Gladiator's flat surfaces and body lines hold onto contamination in ways most vehicles don't, so the decon step made a noticeable difference before a hand ever touched the paint. 🔬 Engine bay was cleaned, degreased, and dressed with VRP on all rubber hoses, plastic covers, and components.

On the interior, full vacuum and Tornador blowout, hard surface wipe down with UV protectant on the dash, vents, door panels, and trim, seat and carpet spot treatment and steam clean, all glass, and air freshener. 🧹 The Gladiator interior takes some extra time with all the storage areas, grab handles, and unique trim pieces that collect dust and grime in every crevice.

🐾 We love dogs. We also love clean cars. Sometimes those two things require extra negotiation. This Hyundai Tucson came in with excessive pet hair embedded throughout the interior and it's a perfect example of why we charge an add-on for severe cases.

Here's what it actually took to get this one clean. Tornador blowout first to dislodge what's loose, vacuum pass, then water misted onto the carpet and seats followed by a drill brush attachment to agitate the fibers and break the hair free. Lilly brush to pull out anything still clinging to the surface, another vacuum pass, repeat as needed. 💨 This is a completely different scope of work than a standard interior detail and takes significantly longer than normal.

💡 Most people think headlight restoration ends when the lens turns clear again. It doesn't. The sanding and polishing process that removes the oxidation also removes the factory UV protective coating that was on the lens originally. If you stop there and don't seal it, the lens will oxidize again within weeks to months depending on sun exposure.

What goes on after the polish is a dedicated headlight clear coat or UV sealant. 🔬 We use 3M's headlight clear coat which bonds to the polycarbonate lens and creates a new UV protective layer that slows the oxidation process significantly. Application is similar to a ceramic coating in that surface prep matters, the lens needs to be completely clean and dry before anything goes on, and the coating needs time to cure before the car goes back out in the elements.

Skipping this step is one of the most common mistakes in DIY headlight restoration. ✅ You'll get clear lenses for a month or two and then wonder why they're going yellow again. The polish clears them, the coating keeps them clear. We include a UV protective sealant on every headlight restoration we do. 💧 This 2026 Passport is one of the Supreme Nomads workhorses that gets us from job to job every day. It's ceramic coated and the Protector Wax we're putting on is barely even sticking because the base layer is doing its job that well.

Getting beads this extreme isn't just about the product you apply in the moment. 🔬 It starts with a strong base layer, either a professional ceramic coating or a ceramic wax like The Last Coat, that creates the initial hydrophobic foundation. From there, consistent use of a ceramic wax topper or Koch Chemie PW on every wash builds up the hydrophobicity over time. Each layer reinforces the last and the water behavior gets more and more dramatic with every application.

The Passport gets PW on almost every wash and the results speak for themselves. ✅ If your car isn't beading like this, it's telling you the protection layer needs attention. Start with a good base, maintain it consistently, and the water will do the rest.
