The fleet is off. The 2026 Rolex Middle Sea Race got underway today in Malta’s Grand Harbour, with 606 nautical miles around Sicily ahead.

Among those racing are North-powered Balthasar, defending last year’s overall title, and , the 2025 monohull line honours winner.

👀 We’ll be keeping an eye on the race tracker all the way back to Malta.

606 nautical miles. An active volcano. And plenty of reasons to get your offshore homework done. 🌋 The Rolex Middle Sea Race is nearly here, taking the fleet from Malta around Sicily, past Stromboli and back again.

Going the distance takes more than boat speed. Balancing skills across each watch, keeping the crew fueled, and practicing sail-handling maneuvers all help a team maintain performance as the miles add up.

Whether you're preparing for Malta or your next distance race, our Offshore Racing Toolkit brings together practical advice on crew management, provisioning, sail selection, and more.

Eight races, shifting conditions and a battle that went right down to the final day in Ontario. 🇨🇦

Rossi Milev and the crew of Clear Air came out on top at the J/24 International Class Association North American Championship, securing the title after a tightly contested week on Lake Ontario.

Evan Petley-Jones and Lifted took second, with Kurt Dammeier’s Amuse Bouche completing an all North Sails podium. 🏆

Five North-powered teams finished inside the top 10 across the 24-boat fleet.

Congratulations to Rossi, the Clear Air team and all the North-powered teams! 👏

In 1957, Lowell North founded North Sails with a clear ambition: to build better, faster sails.

On October 16, our founder will be inducted into the America’s Cup Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026. A sailor, engineer and innovator, Lowell brought a scientific approach to sailmaking. He built a culture of testing, learning and sharing knowledge, and helped develop generations of sailors and sail designers.

His influence continues in the people and ideas that move North Sails forward today. We’re proud to celebrate this recognition of his contribution to our sport.

North-powered teams locked out the top five in Maxi 1 at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, with Sir Peter Ogden’s Jethou leading Karel Komarek’s V and Filip Balcaen’s Balthasar onto an all-North podium. For Jethou, victory marked a satisfying reversal. After finishing second to V at the Giraglia inshore event in June, the team returned to Pampelonne Bay to take the win and finish the season on a high.

“Jethou was in her spiritual home,” says North expert Ronan Grealish, who sails with the team. “Following her winter refit, we returned to racing with an upgraded inventory. At three of our four events this season, we went into the final day with a chance to win. You can’t ask for more.”

Congratulations to Jethou, V, Balthasar, Northstar III and Capricorno on an outstanding result.
