I have been racking my head trying to put into words how proud I was of Alex Zakusilo last weekend at Atlanta Motorsports Park. The kart track is as intimidating as you will find. High speeds and CRAZY elevation changes. Alex said that he kept loosing his stomach like on a roller coaster. Alex was in the top 5 in Sr 206 most sessions. In the last practice session on Friday he posted the fastest lap. In Sr KA100 he was top 4. In the second heat race he went off and struck the barrier and was ejected out of the kart. He shook it off like a champ and was right back up to speed in the next session. In the KA final Perez and Avrutsky finished 1-2 and matched for the fastest lap with a 53.086 second lap. Alex turned a 53.129 on his way to a 4th place finish. That is just .043 of a second off the fastest lap. He obviously has fast equipment but his focus and desire to practice and learn constantly is showing! Having Henry Wheeler as a teammate and for coaching is a great asset. It’s fun to watch them both!

Just wanted to post a quick update on the Cup Karts North America Spring National. Our drivers showed great speed with their Rocket Engine Works engines throughout practice.
In Happy Hour Henry Wheeler set the fastest overall lap on his BirelArt AM-29 in Senior Light against 78 of the best 206 competitors. He was able to run towards the top in every session. Henry finished third in both heats securing a great starting position for the feature. Unfortunately Henry got sent off of the track early on in the feature. In a very tough race with lots of great talent he was able to climb up to a 6th place finish. In Senior Medium an incident in the second heat broke his rear bumper. This resulted in a meatball flag that took him off the track. Because of his great finish in the first heat he still transferred directly into the main event starting in the 42nd spot. Doing what Henry does he put his head down and drove from 42nd up to the 15th spot earning the hard charger award. He made up 27 positions in 18 laps and missed setting the fast time by only .072 seconds!

Wyatt Berelsman joined us in the Kid Kart class with his Rocket Engine Works engine. He drove a great race and was able to get his first national podium finish coming home in 3rd place!! We are super proud of him and blessed to be a part of his journey!

Alex Zakusilo keeps getting better every event he attends. On Friday practice we were so impressed with the way he was moving through traffic almost effortlessly and showing great speed. The teams coaching and having Henry working directly with him is getting results! We are confident that he will have the finishes to show in his efforts soon!!!

We have 2 new Birel AN-29s in stock and would love to help you out! Contact us directly for details!

Daytona Kartweek 2026 was a challenge. Henry Wheeler was piloting his AM29 with Rocket Engine Works power under the Rocketech Motorsports tent. In the opening heat race he suffered a mechanical failure on the out lap. He didn’t even take the green and was scored in 44th. The heat races are progressive and he started heat two from 44th and made it all the way up to 16th gaining 28 positions in 12 laps. In the pre-final Henry was able to climb up another 8 positions finishing in the 8th spot. In the 16 laps final Henry was able work his way to the front on lap 8. With the intense battle at the front the lead swapped several times. With just over two laps to go Henry moves back into the lead only to be forced off the track dropping back to 8th position. With two laps remaining he was able to make it back to the 5th position at the checkered flag. It was certainly a great effort and Henry showed that he had enough speed to have a shot at victory.
Cup Karts Winter National at Jacksonville was next. With such a large turnout the heat races were separated by odd and even qualifiers. In 206 Light heat one Henry finished 2nd behind Collin Warren and Henry was also able to set the fast time. In heat two Henry lead the race from lap three until the final approach to the finish line where Collin was able to take the win by .025 seconds. After the race the officials ruled that Collin had cut the track and penalized him back to 2nd. It was still a good move by Collin and he is a great competitor. In heat three it was a tough battle up front again. This time Isaac Malcuit took the victory with Collin second and Henry in Third. In the 206 Light Final it was Derek Wargo who crossed the line first for a popular win followed closely by Collin Warren and Henry Wheeler.
In the 206 Medium race it was again a very close field with several drivers who were able to run up front. The heat races were once again separated by odd and even qualifiers. In the first heat race Henry was able to finish in the 4th spot and set fast time of the race. In heat two Henry once again battled towards the front but a gear change just seemed to make it a little more difficult. Henry again finished in the 4th position. In Heat three Henry was able to move up and take the lead on lap three. The battle up front was continuous with the draft playing a big part. With two laps to go Henry was put hard into the wall approaching the start/finish line. The damage was extensive and ended his race. Thankfully Henry wasn’t hurt and we had all night to replace all of the damaged parts and put the kart on a chassis table. For the Final on Saturday Henry would have to start in the twelfth position. Henry was still pretty sore from his crash the day before. He was able to move his way up the finish in the third position in the final. After the winner was disqualified in post race tech Henry advanced to the 2nd position. Congratulations to Collin Warren on his win.
We have to give a shout out to Henry’s teammate Alex Zakusilo. After some struggles on track and not getting the results we hoped for in the heat races. Alex was able to move up an impressive 10 positions in the final round. Alex showed improvement every session and has impressed all of us even though he has little experience. Alex is capable of great things and we are all proud to be part of his journey!
