We received a letter from Irmo-Chapin Life Magazine naming The Auto Shop of Chapin as a winner in their annual contest, for the "The Best Auto Body Repair Shop" While we appreciate that people voted for us, we need to clear the air: we don't do body work—nor have we ever.
Our team specializes entirely in mechanical repair, diagnostics, and service maintenance. Accepting an award for a craft we do not practice would be misleading to our customers and completely unfair to the actual shops in our community that dedicate themselves to collision and body repair.
Because of this glaring oversight, our faith in how these popular-vote contests are evaluated has completely evaporated.
Even more importantly, Ace Auto Refinishing was also in the running for this category. Giving this title to us instead of them is a gross injustice. Ace Auto Refinishing pours exceptional skill, precision, and hard work into the automotive body repair field day in and day out. They earned this recognition through true expertise.
Therefore, The Auto Shop of Chapin is officially refusing this award. We are passing the recognition where it rightfully belongs: to Ace Auto Refinishing, in honor of the outstanding work they actually deliver to our community every single day.
Please continue to support the local businesses that specialize in and master their true crafts.
