gng On Demand..... Remembrances.... Michael Henry “Mike” Morris

Michael Henry “Mike” Morris, 75, of New Haven, Kentucky, passed away on July 10, 2026, at his residence.

Born on February 2, 1951, in New Haven, Mike was the son of the late William Franklin Morris and Dorothy Rita Bryan Morris. He was a lifelong resident of New Haven, where he built not only a successful business, but a legacy of friendship, kindness, and unwavering generosity.

For decades, Mike was the familiar face behind Morris & Clark Garage, where he was known as one of the area’s finest mechanics. To Mike, there was no such thing as “just a customer.” Every person who walked through the doors of his garage was treated like a friend, and before long, many became family. Whether someone needed their vehicle repaired, a helping hand, or simply someone to listen, Mike was always there. He never met a stranger and rarely told anyone “no” when they needed help. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Mike shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joann Morris, who preceded him in death. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and community. In recent years, he found companionship with Debbie Brady of Campbellsville, whose love and care brought him much happiness.

Outside the garage, Mike’s greatest passion was drag racing. He was a proud and respected member of the racing community and especially cherished his beloved 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, a car he had owned for most of his life. That classic Chevrolet wasn’t just a vehicle, it was a reflection of who Mike was: timeless, dependable, and deeply loved by everyone.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joann Morris; and his brothers, Wilson Morris, Jimmy Morris, and Joe Morris.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Darren Morris, and his fiancée, Krysti Dickerson; his treasured granddaughter, Nova Marie Morris, who was the pride and joy of his life; Krysti’s children, Kloie and Hailey Hutchins and Austin Dickerson, all of whom held a special place in his heart; his companion, Debbie Brady of Campbellsville; his brothers, Bobby (Debbie) Morris of Bardstown, T.C. (Donna) Morris of New Haven, Frankie (Laurie) Morris of Bardstown, and Red Morris of New Haven and his companion, Lisa Gill; his sisters, Sissie (Fox) Clark of New Haven, Kathy (Ricky) Miles of New Haven, and Rose (Lex) Martin of Bloomfield; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, countless friends, loyal customers, and fellow racers whose lives were made better simply by knowing him.

Pallbearers will be Jason Clark, Ricky Clark, Jack Clark, Hayden Clark, Matt Morris, Frank Morris, Jesse Morris, and Caleb Heady. Honorary pallbearers will be the New Haven Connection Racing Team, honoring the friendships and memories forged both on and off the track.

Visitation will be held at William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven at 12:00 p.m.

Mike’s greatest legacy was never the cars he repaired or the races he ran, it was the people he loved and the lives he touched. His willingness to help others, his quick smile, his stories, and his steadfast friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though his garage door has closed for the last time, the impact he made on this community will never fade.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
